I don't know about Idaho (I guess we can all do whatever we want when they stop doing smog checks next July), but I'm sure California it has always been that way. You can swap anything as long as the engine is same year or newer, and you swap with ALL the smog equipment from the new engine.

I believe that's the federal law. But, the incoming engine and emissions equipment has to have been approved in that configuration, or have been built for the same model/chassis. I think there's something about the emissions having to be less than the car originally had, but I gave up trying to figure that out lol.

One of the best. My parents had the album. I played the trumpet as a kid and spent many many hours in my room learning to play the trumpet part.

TIL that it is a bad idea to forget about the new bottle of Clorox 2 in the trunk when you go to bed brakes.

On the plus side, my car will smell GREAT at the track tomorrow.

I did the same! ...except I played the tuba. God I hated being stuck with the tuba. So jealous.

oh come on, a little scotchbrite pad work, and that crank will be like brand new!

of note, they said both motors knocked... which could also mean the the rods are making new oiling passages in the cylinder walls as well...

I was thinking chuck it in a drill and ratchet strap it to the bench and turn it on some emery cloth.

They are basically only good for cores if you are going to go the built engine route even if they only had a spun bearing. I priced out building a forged internals block and you are ahead just buying a built one from IAG, Map, or Outfront. Replacing the crank and the spun bearing would probably cost a grand when a new short block is only 1800 if you could do the work yourself.

Along similar lines it was said that one could miss 2 years of Days Of Our Lives and still know what was going on when one resumed watching.
