I didn't watch the video. Came late to the game and figured from the descriptions here it was a shit show. Don't need to see that.

Same here. I've built dozens of PCs over the years and I always fully assemble first, then hit the big red switch (or whatever color it is). I suppose you could put all the components together, plug it to the PSU outside the box and test but really it's no more difficult to troubleshoot in the case for me on the rare occasion it doesn't fire up the first time.

Assuming for someone who doesn't do this for a living.
Place everything on something that wont conduct electricity. MB box works.
Does it all work/boot like normal. Assemble
If not time to trouble shoot.

The number of times something has gotten to me DOA is VERY surprising.
Dead RAM, CPU, MB, Card.
No dead HDD's or SSD's yet thankfully.

Yup. Only takes a little more time to set stuff up outside the case if everything works... Far easier when troubleshooting is required. Really just need POST and bios check though with m2 hiding on the motherboard I might change my tune if I get a failure there. Also let's me see where cables want to go and plan a bit more easily.

they said to take everything out of all the boxes, which is also a huge no-no to me.

mb's especially come with all sorts of accessories and add-ons. i always assembled one part at a time, entirely emptying the boxes as the parts were installed so i didn't miss anything.

I feel like everyone is copying this style of case. I've seen this variation or type from Lian Li, Hyte, Asus, and now NZXT.

I'm not a fan of "glass" cases because most of the time I have my computer out of sight, but it's almost impossible to buy a decent case any longer that doesn't have at least one glass panel.

I'm pretty sure most of those cases are for people who want to show their stuff off or do an RGB build. I just don't like that they take up such a wide footprint.

yea, even just trying to find non-LED parts these days is getting harder.

I think there are quite a few options for non-LED parts. Noctua and BeQuiet are two brands that come to mind for me. They are quiet, perform great, and they are subdued. Though yes, RGB is everywhere these days.

But does RGB exist if you're colour blind? I'm off to the philosophy thread.

Technically yes lol. Even if it was cliche black and white, you'd see the shifts in greys just not pretty colors. But I wouldn't know. I'm blind.

I'm sure there's a grey market for that sort of thing.

i used to think colorblind meant zero color. then i learned my coworker is, and my brother-in-law is.

my coworker can't see certain shades of brown/purple/red, they all look the same.

my brother-in-law can't see yellow as well.
