for ~$150 I will probably try the spacers, too. I do worry about camber changes but that isn't super important for rallycross, given my skill level. I worry more about it affecting the handling on track. The 1" spacer plus camber plates might do the trick - and I'll be in there anyways.

Definitely will need some for camber adjustment. When I had the spacers on my car, there was definitely some funky handling on the road. Granted, I was on stock WRX wheels with much taller tires, but the positive camber definitely didn't help.

also my dumb brain just realized the taller springs will have the same issue as the spacers - it's effectively doing the same thing. So the real question is do I want to change the spring rate or progression.

So there is another thread about already-available "rough road" springs which raise the car slightly. However, the spring rates are kinda low.

If you go forward, what rates are you looking at? Maybe slightly higher than BRZ OEM?

Slightly higher than OEM BRZ is our thinking. More to come soon.

I’ve also considered lift spacers. I’m running 185/65r15 rally tires and still want more ground clearance. I also would like more tire to fender clearance and lifting the car will do that, where as the taller tires reduced the tire to fender clearance.

Damn. Wheel directory needs more confirmed fitment R15 entries that fit over twins stockers w/o need to retrofit small wrx brakes, for ice/snow rally fun. :/
It already IS fun, but felt that 205-195 still too wide for weight of these cars, and would love to try out proper studded skinny R15 "saws" on some R15x5-6 w/o need to change brakes.

I ran rallycross on stock rims and 215mm snows. It was a lot of fun but not very fast.

Team Dynamics 15x6 fit over stock brakes. I used the standard Subaru offset as a clearance check on the front, then ordered a custom offset of +25. This gave roughly 28mm more clearance between the wheels and suspension and moved the outer face of the wheel out about 2mm.

The guys at the local shop Rally.Build are repairing a salvage title 86 to build into a rally car. They tried a different brand of rally wheels, EVO Corse I think, in a stock Subaru offset and have had issues with rubbing the tie rod ends on the barrel of the wheels. I have not noticed that on my setup.

I tried to fit a 195/65 tire first, but they rubbed against the trailing edge of the wheel well, even though my car has increased caster. A snow tire would probably fit as their tread blocks are shorter than rally tires.

Having started the FRs off using a set of 16x6(6.5?)et52 wheels from a 99 Legacy GT and 205/55r16 rally tire setup, my custom setup made the car feel much more stable and the narrower tread footprint dug into the racing surface much better.

Weasel Soup: you should take pics & make thread addable to Wheel Directory. Imho that info may benefit to others too, given still only one R15 wheel of VW Avus listed of confirmed fitment/clearance. I'm now using 16x7 SSR Type Cs for winter, but really would have wanted narrower 15 ones if knew which would clear. Narrower indeed would work better on loose surfaces.
