For street driving in my experience, the RE11A should last around 20-25% longer.

I'm running the V12's up here in Vancouver where we get tons of ran, and the V12's are a pretty decent 3 season tire. I'm not overly impressed though, I'm going to switch to something else next time, and square my setup.

I haven't tried the PSs's on an 86 yet, but I had them on my Yamaha R6 (after Diablo 3's) and they were incredible tires. I'm a huge fan, and will be giving them a shot for my next street tire.

I don't know how big an improvement the RE-11A is vs. RE-11, but in the Hot Rod test, the PSS was quicker than the RE-11.

A year and a half ago Car and Driver tested the PSS against the Z1 StarSpec, R-S3, AD08 and other tires around Tire Rack's test course in a BMW 328i on 225/45-17 tires. Probably more relevant to FR-S/BRZ than the Hot Rod test of 275/35-18 tires on a live axle 70s vintage Plymouth...

In the dry:
Z1 SS: 60.2
R-S3: 60.3
PSS: 59.9
AD08: 59.7

In the wet:
Z1 SS: 64.8
R-S3: 64.8
PSS: 62.6
AD08: 64.4

Not too shabby for a dedicated *street* tire, I'd say. Of course I would expect the ZII, AD08R, and RE-11A to be improvements over their predecessors, but anyway, IMO the PSS deserve the accolades it gets. No, it's not a serious track tire, but for *most* people's usage I would bet that these autoX course results are more representative of the performance they'll get on the street.

I'm running these on the FD and have been pretty happy with them. I ran them at VIR one weekend, then Z1 StarSpecs at New Hampshire Motor Speedway the following weekend, and the performance was pretty comparable, at least for the first couple of laps.

I was a little surprised at how much the grip falls off in cooler weather on the street, though. Even at 50F, grip on the street is reduced a noticeable amount.

I think the best results are shown when you look at what nationally competitive people use.

Right now, it's... still RS3, with a few using RE11A and Z2ss here and there.

What nationally competitive drivers can do is probably less relevant than these magazine tests around Tire Track's autoX course as far as the performance that most people would see on the street. For street usage, my money is on the PSS in the dry, much more so in the wet (particularly vs. R-S3).

I'm really surprised by those results. On a fast road course it's a noticeable difference between the PSS and the rs3. The PSS got a bit greasy after a few laps and never had the grip level of the rs3's.

So, I'm seeing a lot of love for the PSS tires, and it seems like there's a good reason to it, but I don't know if I can justify $800+ (for the size I'll need) for tires on a car that will never see a track. This thread has a lot of good information in it, but I'm seeing a lot of track arguements. I just need a DD tire that's better than stock, performs well, and doesn't cost a small fortune. It would also be nice if they lasted a while. That's something I'm seeing against the cheaper options versus the PSS. If the PSS really is the longest lasting tire, then that might force my hand.

The PSS are the best tire I have used for both performance and comfort as a daily driver. Is like canned unicorn meat, meaty and sparkly goodness. Magic in every corner it bites into

Just ordered these in 245/40R17 for $350 SHIPPED to my door to put on my DD wheels.

Seem to be decent performance, incredible price point, and perform fairly, but aren't anywhere near the PSS tire. But if you just need a DD tire, it's worth checking out.

Here's a writeup of another member who is running them:

How much do you usually get out of a set of Super Sports? And what is your driving style?
