Yessss...thank you. Let me know whenever.

Now I can get started on my hello kitty seat fabric!

Started gutting the 2015 White BRZ on Saturday, Got engine, transmission, exhaust, driveshaft and majority of the interior removed. Then started on the 2013 WRB BRZ, also removed the engine, transmission, exhaust & driveshaft. Changed the spark plugs on the 2015 engine and then installed it in the 2013. Waiting on some more parts to continue the rebuild; clutch components, header, overpipe...then it'll get road tested before more track mods!

Not 86 related...but picked this up the week before Christmas and it arrived on Christmas Eve....Expanding my Subaru skillset, it is already fixed and ready for state inspection!

I don't try to explain insurance company logic....but yes...

Light pull on left rear corner, replaced duct (square hole), replaced rear crash beam, replaced 3 exhaust hangers, replaced rear bumper cover and had the PDR guy fix the hatch dent....got a full service, new battery and new tires....

It's all about the cost to repair vs residual value once repaired. Cost to repair also includes cost of providing alternative transportation during the repair.

Not sure what year the vehicle in question is, but I know when I had my FRS repaired after being rear-ended it only got done because of the out of control used market in late 2021, early 2022. It had a little more damage then this but not much. The gap was less than $1,000.

Add to this the current parts delays...go do a search at one of the insurance auctions for 2022 & 2023 vehicles. There are thousands "totalled" because factories are using every part to build vehicles so there are no spare parts to repair them if they are crashed...

Makes for tempting purchases...but can't repair without parts.

Curious how does insurance work on salvage vehicles and what companies insure salvage titles? I thought it was hard to find insurance for these titles

i dunno, i could sit on a 2023 brz if i had to, if it was just a matter of a bumper cover and a front core support or something...

Insurance is easy to find, just don't expect the same payout as a clean title car if you total it again.

2022-23 86's are still fairly "rare" to find, and pricey at auction...but 2022 Civic's....geez Honda must have no spare parts for them....look how little damage some have...easily less than 80%

Sorry for the lack of follow up on Nate's build....progress has been slow due to life....lol

Since the last report there has been some progress and a bunch of items that needed to be finished up: Clutch, Header & Overpipe were installed, as well as solid motor mounts, solid tranny mounts, Verus rear LCA's, an AP Sprint front brake kit, ARP extended lugs (front) and a JRZ RS suspension. Suspension resevoirs still needed to be mounted, brakes need to be bled, front and rear bumpers needed reinstalled, interior stripped and a bunch of odds & ends so we got the car moved to my house where I could put some time in as I could.

So spent a few hours on it yesterday, stripped the rear interior and headliner, reassembled most of the dash, secured and mounted the JRZ reservoirs and reinstalled the bumpers. Will be replacing both rear knuckles and bearings, installing the rear ARP extended lugs, bleeding the brakes, nut & bolting all the prior work and getting it ready to be tuned over the next few weeks. Then sending it to the cage shop, then add seats, harnesses and a new steering wheel.

Had some unexpected time free up yesterday...so I got both rear knuckles and wheel bearings installed including ARP extended lugs. One of the old wheel bearings was completely rusted into the old backing plate/knuckle and I bent the old backing plate trying to get it free. Luckily had a new backing plate in my stash. Also installed sperical links into the Verus LCA's and fabbed up some spacers so the JRZ rear coilovers fit without washers into the Verus LCA's. Bled the brakes and took the car for it's first on the street drive in over a year....

Need to go locate the door panels and some missing interior trim bits at @dave-R0rshop to get them installed...might be able to get it aligned and have Nate (the owner) get some laps at Sebring November 4th & 5th!
