I found brz as a daily doable, but in certain situations like cross-country trips I had to be more wary of speed bumps and steeper slopes.
I think any of the usual hot hatches could work -- pick your flavor -- but doubt they'll have more ground clearance than a stock BRZ. (My mk6 GTI didn't, for example.) I think you'll have to step up to a CUV for that.

If I were upgrading mine, BMW M4 (or Audi RS5) for more comfort, 911 for more fun. I love my car inside out though and even the idea of selling it hurts.

For the price of a 911 you could modify the BRZ into anything you could imagine.

It takes a lot of time and effort to do it right and keep it right. I know because I did and I am doing it. I wouldn't give that recommendation to somebody who just wants to have fun driving.

And the modded BRZ, unlike a P-car, wouldn't be worth anywhere close to how much you're into it.

anyone that's worried about a cars worth shouldn't really bother continuing to modify the car anyways...

if one is worried about it's worth, it means you intend to sell, and if you intend to sell, then all you ever end up worrying about is the condition that you can offer to the next guy, and then one must question why you're keeping it around in the first place because it obviously doesn't bring happiness...

It’s a depreciating asset, so if you are worried about it’s worth you already lost. Just drive and enjoy it, and when you are done, get the most cash you can and move on. If you like your next rig, you won’t even care about what you lost on the old one. Keep looking forward.

I totally agree. It only took a Sat and Sun and I racked up 200 miles just cruising in the country side in my Supra. I had 10 miles on the clock when I bought it new. Now its at 224 miles.

I don’t understand why people buy nice cars and don’t drive it. You bought a nice car to enjoy it. I can’t imagine missing out on all the fun.

I would drive there snot out of a $30k brz all day. It would be the same in a Lamborghini.

You're seeing this as a black & white question.

A car's a depreciating asset, a mod is (most of the time) a sunken cost. Two very different things.

Putting 30k worth of mods in a 20k BRZ results in a 25k car. Selling the twin and putting 30 grand on top to buy a 911 results in you having a $50k car. In that example, modding the BRZ will cost 25k more than owning a P-car.

The question is whether you find it worth it. I don't have 25k to throw down the drain, so to me, the answer is a clear "no" and I'd choose owning the P-car instead.

Having these considerations in mind doesn't mean you can't use your car. It's a question of where you draw the line. In my case, it's after driving the car whenever I can and not worrying about it, but before 5-figures mods. To each his / her own.

Also spot on on those points about the BRZ. Stiff handling and loud noise are always there even when you just want to 'cruise' home after a spirited drive. Cannot fault the seating position. But, overall lift of 1cm in ride height would be perfect. Turbo certainly sounds interesting.

Coming to think about it I think a 2 series might make good sense... or perhaps a WRX? If it is a rex it will be my 5th scooby, though.

Tried very hard to get the new yaris GR, but they sell so well dealers are not even motivated to call back to give me updates on the slot allocation.
That Yaris GR is HOT!!! I'm somehow wishing they put a similar engine/performance in their Toyota CH-R, which have the look but totally missing the bite.

I never like the WRX look and proportions in the beginning, seems a bit off, but after I rode in one, I'm sold!!! Nice seating position. Where the A-pillar provides a great forward view. The engine is spot on (what BRZ's should've been), and the suspension is a gem! Again, what the BRZ's should've been.

As for the BRZ's noisy interior... riding with earbuds help a bit for me. Yes, not exactly legal, but being able to reduce the noise a bit make the driving experience much better.

As a wrx owner for 9 years and counting (2012 wrx), the new wrx are no different. The seats suck, the stereo system sucks, the stock shifter feels like plastic. The hydro steering rack is to soft and the EPS sucks even more. However, for every day driving, in snow, rain, wet conditions, it is awesome. The suspension is ok.
