I'm 18x8 +48 with 225/40 no problems. +42 just means you'll be 6mm further out in the guards each side, and there's room to spare.

Depends on your alignment.. That's fairly aggressive. 48mm further out than stock. (~2")
Grab a calculator and check. But, it's roughly poking 1"+ past the guards..

Wheel fitment isn't magic. Anyone can learn to measure.

These are the original 2002 Impreza and Impreza WRX wheels.

11mm in compared to stock. It will fit and look rather silly imo.
It will work for your intended purpose, however.

Edit- may want to test fit one for front caliper clearance.

Thank you kindly sir, would get these very cheap but still have untill January to have wheels ready so guess I will hold out and see if something better comes up.

Guys I can't seem to find the answer to my question.

I'm thinking of getting kiwami's 18'' 9.5's with a +30 offset and for the front 8.5's with the same offset...my 86 is stock ride height. Just firstly want to know if that combo will work for the car?, probly will get a 1-1.5'' drop aswel.

Lastly can the car deal with an even more aggressive offset in the rear like a +20.

I apologise if I sound like a noob at this.

I would probably go with 8.5 +38 front and 9.5 +38 rear, many others have and it fits well I don't see any reason to go more aggressive but i'm sure its possible with some negative camber and slightly stretched tires.

Yes. Front out 37mm over stock. Rear out 50mm over stock.
8.5/9.5 offset +30 to +38 would be ideal if lowered some with a bit of neg. camber.
This is borderline aggressive/too aggressive.
