Other than aesthetics, is there any purpose to that liner? Now if it had mount points/brackets (yes like a W124 series Merc LOL) for that nasty triangle - then it's a winner!

Did you manage to get a price on the OEM trunk liner?
It should definitely be possible to get it from Toyota SA, even if they have to order it.

Stepping in from the US, I have to say it really does make a difference to the eye. I've been very happy I added it to mine. Some comparisons shots here.
Also, it's very thin, and some have just used the felt type trunk material you can buy at auto parts stores here in the US. The holes are already in the trunk, buy a few of the pins, trace, cut and you are done. There is a thread in the DIY section I believe where someone did that.
