Venting fenders into engine bay?

I know this is a bit silly, but since WTAC regs require oem fenders, I was thinking of reducing wheel well drag by venting the air in the wells into an exit located on the hood of the car, instead of directly on the fender itself. Would this be a worthwhile thing to do, i.e. would it still have the same effect?

Why not get some tape, bits of wool, a go pro and do some old school aero testing.

I doubt you'd be able to vent much through them. Some people on this forum have tried to use them a engine bay heat extractors though (probably an easy thread to find).

Can you not just cut out vents in the OEM fenders?
