Can you plug the oft into your computer, save the stock map on your hard drive, then wipe and reset the oft?

Just thinking out loud

I managed to save the original ECU file on my computer but I am hesitant to erasing the OFT.
I found this here "You cannot ERASE an OFT that has not written the ORIGINAL tune file back to the ECU on which it has been installed."

And I can't write the original tune file back to the car because of the error message.

If I erase the tablet it becomes unmarried to the car. I will have to connect it to the car to marry it again but it still has the stage 1 tune. Maybe I am overthinking this but I don't want to get stuck on my driveway.

Yeah I'm honestly not sure on this. I was thinking re-uploading the stock tune to the oft via computer might remarry it, but I'd hate to be wrong.

I would wait to hear back from Shiv or someone else who knows more than me. You could also try posting on the facebook support page, OpenFlash Tablet BRZ/FR-S/86 Tuning & Support.

Good luck!

Thanks. I would make sense but I was thinking that this would open the door to using the tablet on more the one car and I would think they'd like to prevent that.

I think I will have to wait for Shiv@Openflash or someone else who can chip in. I don't have facebook, can't stand it aha.

Shiv, the owner, isn't always responsive but he is very helpful when he gets around to you. You'll be squared away in no time.

I hope so. The car threw a CEL yesterday, which was to be expected on the current tune. But it's a reminder that it is asking for Stage 2.
I guess I have to be patient. Come on Shiv (or Anthony in my case) !!

Garage
I am genuinely curious what's causing this... I have used OFT on separate occasions with 2 different cars and never had any issues.

Me too. I've installed Stage 1 a couple of years ago without any issues. It connected normally. It also reads normally when I access it with the OF manager software. I use a Mac with Virtual Windows and everything seems fine. Just to make sure I also tried it with a native windows computer but it didn't make any difference.

What should have been the easiest step in this upgrade is turning into the hardest one. I contacted them last Tuesday and I am still waiting patiently. And meanwhile I driving around with a CEL. I know it is a weekend but it's very frustrating.

Still no response from OpenFlash. It's very frustrating to drive around with the wrong tune, a CEL and nobody willing to help. I can't even revert back to stock because the OFT will not work.
I've been waiting for over a week now. I tried contacting them again but they can't be bothered replying. Disappointing.

@steve99, do you have any idea what I should do? You seem to be the go-to guy here on the forum.

If your driving round on petrol with the stock petrol tune or a stage 1 tune in car eith catless header it wont do any harm. Wont be optimal power but wont burt anthing, jist cgeck the cel is jist P0420, if so its fine. Might be annoying and cruise control wont work but no damage done.

Hopefully the oft guys sort you oft issue soon.

If you lived near me id flash it for you. :-)

Ill be in vancouver next week on holidays

Update the template file on your oft from the openflash web site use v1 for older oft

Try writing tune again

No go then

Only other suggestion would be delete the C:\openflash directory anad all contents on your computer.

Then manually download and install ooenflash manager from the openflash support site

Connect up oft with computer connected to internet and let oft do updates

Try again to write
