My parents said the exact same thing 6 years back, told me to move back in until I can buy my own place. At least have a nice cushion to fall back on. Giving myself 1 or 2 more years to continue stockpiling.

(and yes, I do help with bills + other stuff. I'm not a complete moocher!)

No parents would want their kids to be upside down on the mortgage. Unless you are getting married or have something to prove I really can't see why now is a good time to buy. Hopefully the housing market returns to affordability in a few years.

During these hard economic times, a friend of mine was saying how a lot of seemingly comfortable people asked why he's sticking with his 17 yr old rust bucket beater when he could just get a new car loan. Then he said well that new car is nice, and I'm sure the debt is even nicer. LMFAO!!

Totally have nothing to prove and certainly not getting married anytime soon. From what I've been told, my credit score now qualifies me for a car loan <3%. But.. I'll just drive my car until it blows up

Yea like I actually thought about getting the new BRZ tS, then swapping some of the parts between the two and then sell the old car. But I just don't feel like having car payments again. Besides I really hate the new interior.

That's a good plan, as long as you are planning for the blow up. Make sure you are saving money along the way so that when it comes time to replace the car, you have the cash to do it.
