Borla UEL Header - CEL FIX

Does anyone have experience with the Borla UEL Header - CEL FIX (http://ft86speedfactory.com/borla-ue...ix-1143.html)?

Reason for asking: I've got in writing from my dealer than I can do whatever I want bolt on and keep my warranty (except for FI), so long as the ECU is never tampered with.

So to avoid having a CEL on 24/7... looks like this will work. Have the Borla issues from early production been resolved? Anyone running this UEL CEL Fix?

Thanks for any information. And, yes I did first.

That seems crazy that the dealer would put that in writing. You can still lean your engine out with just bolt-ons.

Anyway, back on topic. It's not the UEL design that causes the CEL, it's the lack of a cat. You could add a spacer or a micro-cat to the o2 sensor to remedy the issue.

I was surprised they actually did it. Funny what they'll do when you threaten to leave and buy a Focus ST for less money.

From what I was reading the whole purpose of the UEL CEL Fix is to avoid any other Cats or spacers, just the single cat in the front pipe to be legal in VA. I'm looking for 100% confirmation of this, as it would allow me my goal of going 100% NA and do something about the dreaded power dip.

Sorry, I jumped the gun. Looks like that CEL Fix link you provided is just a spacer for the O2 Sensor. Maybe users who have used it can chime in, but it should work based on what I've read.

You could add your own for cheaper or buy the package.

I tried it out but the code popped anyway. I ended up just taking it off since it didn't help and I've heard some say they are a bad idea. After about 1200 miles my CEL just turned off by itself. I'm sure it will come back but it's been off for about 300 miles now.

I have the angled sensor you posted in the link, I still get the cell. Every now and then it will clear, only to come back later after 100 miles or so. I'm just going to except it until I get a tune.

FA20club has a catted UEL available - no CEL. Have you considered this?

You can try wrapping your o2 in steel wool. Off topic: in lesser to not get CEL on stock tune what is the minimum cat population you need in exhaust? Just catted header?
