requirements to run openflash manager
so im having this new issue, since ive put windows on a SSD openflash manager wont start.
i open it and it instantly says PWGPRO has stopped working. Under details the event name is CLR20r3 which ive spent weeks searching and trying things and nothing works. ive tried multiple reinstalls, regi repairs and tried installing it on other non SSD drives running on my pc with no effect. Ive tried emailing OFT team but got no answer. So im wondering if im missing some program that is needed to run this like java, adobe, c++ .net framework? (i have all of these installed btw)

Try backing up, then deleting your OpenFlashManager folder, then redownloading OFM and re-installing. Otherwise IDK.
OpenFlashManager seems to run with no probs on everything I've put it on. This includes a very low spec'd 7" Winbook TW700 tablet running Windows 8.1 (1GB RAM 16GB MMC/SSD). |

If you're running win8 there is a patch you have to install. It's on their site.

There shouldn't be any problem with running OFM on a computer with a SSD. In fact I haven't found a hardware combination that it was unable to run on. As suggested earlier if you are running into issues, delete the existing Openflash folder that is on you C drive and do a fresh installation. Other than that I can't think of any other reason that you would b having a problem.

I had a problem with mine that drove me INSANE. The OFT dudes had not seen it before, but did their best to help. I tried EVERYTHING, to include wiping and re-installing Window's 7 Pro. As far as I can tell, the problem was a bad download or install of C++. I have no idea why that would happen, but it has not happened since.
I'm back to using a heavily tweaked version of Windows, no problems. I finally got smart and used Macrium Reflect to save a bone-stock install of Windows for troubleshooting. It's a pain, but try a fresh install of Windows (turn updates off as well) and just the OFT. When done, disable your internet connection before connecting the tablet. Fingers crossed. It's probably something real simple that's nearly impossible to figure out! ETA: Googled PWGPRO, several answers, so I have no idea what it is. |

FWIW, I've only run from SSD - both standard and built-in RAID (on-drive, and yeah - it failed...) and both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1
I have not tried Windows 10 yet Sometimes odd mixes of things not fully installed can cause problems. Be sure you have the latest from the OpenFlash site (try viewing in private viewing mode/incognito to force it to ignore cached versions...) and as someone else mentioned, try uninstalling the MS libraries, reboot, then re-install. Have you tried either one of those? Or right click on icon, select properties, compatibility tab,and change compatibility mode and see if that changes the behavior. |
