they're just soooo close to legit, like the brake pad thing, I don't feel bad about typing up a response and linking the diy but like 8x of those questions a day? Shit I don't think I've had more than like 2 questions a week.

I just pulled the damn caliper out of the way to check the brakes.

Don't do it!!!!

Didn't anyone ever tell you that rust is what holds cars together? Don't believe me? Try loosening a rusted bolt versus a new one some time.

LOL I did full off frame restorations of a 58 Chev, a 64 Mustang and a 64 Impala. There aint nothin' anybody can tell me about rust. More than once we came across rust that was indeed holding the car together. The bloody Mustang came with it factory equipped.

Funny, I never figured out how to take the frame off my 1969 "Rustang"...

Yup, I 'm that guy.

We had 97% coverage here, and there was much more light than I expected.

By circumstance of where I lived I've been through a total on March 7, 1970 in NC and an annular on 5/30/1984 in Virginia. I was surprised how much difference there is between those two an the 97% coverage in terms of light. I expected today to be much darker than it was.

"Frame off" is more a figure of speech than a technical term when talking Mustangs.

We grabbed a welders mask and took a look here. Even though the disk was well covered there was zero visible difference in the light.

Same here. 92% coverage - bright day. Welder's mask showed well. "Eclipse glasses" showed very orangey!

Was cool and all but I can't imagine that even at full it was worth the hype.

I think you have to see a full to appreciate it. It's several magnitudes "weirder" than a partial.

I wouldn't spend thousands of dollars to go see one, but had I not already been through it (twice) it would have been worth driving the couple of hundred miles I would have had to drive today to be fully in the shadow.

It goes from what you saw today to 2am dark back to light in just a few minutes.

Saw the full in 79 and yes was slightly more impressive. What I meant was the hype made it sound like there was going to be some spectacular show when the reality is other than the brief dark period it is just a dark circle inside a bright circle.
