ok, i tried to take some pictures... perhaps because they're night photos and you don't get the same depth and contrast, but it doesn't look so bad. I think i may have gotten in tonight without scraping, but it wasn't something i would want to have to reproduce day in and out. What i think does it in is there is a drop right after the lip where the concrete "driveway" meets the curb. plus it does go down pretty deep and sharply at the bottom of the dip.

Edit: pictures somehow not uploading on computer, having issues with chrome.. tbt

Yep, sometimes the town or city can get real protective of "their" driveway aprons.

I wanted to "cut/grind down" the peak in my driveway, because I have to exit and enter with no passenger nor load, at exactly a 45 degree angle, to prevent scraping.

Now, mrs humfrz is not real wild about getting in and out in the rain. Plus, at age 72, hitting a 45 degree, while looking over my shoulder, backing up ....up hill ..... gets a bit ...tricky.......

Back in the day, or about 1:00 in the morning, I would have taken a rented concrete saw, along with a buddy and and a half gallon of whisky and some sakrete and "fixed" it !!!!......

However, in my more mature years, I contacted the town for permission. Welp, NO GO ...... changing the slope of the aprin would be in violation of the ADA (American Disabilities Act).

I tried to explain that I was NOT trying to make the slope steeper ...... but LESS steep. NOPE! That would be a "change" .....a no-no.

Oh, well, since only the mid-pipe scrapes ...... I'll just buy a new one from time to time.

I would be in the same boat but there is a crosswalk section just before and i use the little dip to get my front bumper up on the elevated surface without scraping

just find one of these dips / wheelchair crosswalks and ride the sidewalk to your driveway LOL
