I'm with you Busybee! I would have loved a AT with PP, but not available and adding all the parts would be stupid expensive.

even the bilstein shocks with RCE springs end up about $1500ish alone, the BB kit just front is like $2000. Its a no brainer to get the Performance pack, even if you never intend to go track it. I'm really hoping they add it as an option on its last year or something.

In general, this / you are correct; however in regards to mpg supposedly the auto does get about 1mpg better then the manual. Efficiency is performance. There is a symbiosis that happens between efficiency and power.

Well, I feel that I am closer to the MT with PP. Since I will keep it stock, it will keep its value better compared to the AT (most of the enthusiasts will look for the MT).
As you mentioned, if they release a AT with options to add the PP items (maybe in the second generation: :P ) I can sell, trade and get the other one.

Meanwhile, it’s a shame that Toyota doesn’t have the liners in the trunk and hood. I was shocked when I saw those 50-100$ pieces lacking.

I'm curious to see if you would notice a difference in the suspension with the PP. I never drove a limited model without it.

Actually, the whole confusion for me started after I tried the series grey! It was huge disappointment for me. I felt every little bump inside the car. Series.grey is PP’ed in default. Therefore, I wanted to test a PP free car. And it was very smooth. Interestingly, the Toyota TRD was also really smooth. Maybe it was limited to that stupid car. Let’s see what will happen with another MT PP!!

The twins (and most any true sports car) aren’t really about having a “smooth” ride if by smooth you mean that you can’t feel any feedback from the road surface while driving. For sporty driving, enthusiasts typically enjoy that connection with the road in which the road surface can be felt through the wheel. If you want a soft ride (and lots of body roll that comes with it) on a sporty car, the Miata may be a better choice for you. The Miata comes with a squishy suspension by default because the average Miata buyer is 60 years old (I’m not making that average age up, that is data from Maritz Market Research) and wants a soft ride.
That said, while I can definitely feel what is going on with the road in my PP BRZ... it’s by no means a harsh or jarring ride. The feedback and lack of body roll is what makes the twins so much fun to drive. On a side note, bring a tire pressure gauge with you to check the tires for proper pressure before a test drive. Cars often have overinflated tires on the dealer lot and that will make the ride seem overly harsh.

This is a valid point. I thought about this and will do what you suggested. Actually when I told this yesterday to the Subaru dealer where I tested the AT he told me the same thing )

Thanks

When I picked up my 2019 BRZ in December 2018, the tires were inflated to 47 PSI. Dealers often do this to prevent flat spots from being parked in one position on their lots.

well I can tell you that the stock limited suspension is too soft for upgraded tires. Lots of body roll at the autocross and tends to lose the rear end once it leans over too much. Its pretty much why I want the PP.

I agree! Although I don’t plan any track days I love the design of the car and like the low profile. I think the look is much better with the PP. Let’s see the test of the PP. If it is still a soft drive I will get the limited PP. I was completely OK with the Toyota TRD except the sound inside. I believe the limited PP will be like the TRD without the exhaust sound.
Since there will not be huge different in terms of the mpg between manual and automatic limited PP is ranking #1 for me.
Thanks

I can't imagine remotely wanting to buy one of these with an auto trans.

Yuck.

My excuse was pretty straightforward, it cost me $9k less because nobody else wanted it off the dealer lot and I could drive it home that day vs paying $9k more and waiting 6-8 weeks for delivery of an MT car.

I took the $9k I saved and put it into aftermarket upgrades. From a performance perspective you can solve most of the issues of the AT by swapping your final drive to a shorter ratio, since the difference in wtq and 0-60 is mostly due to gearing.

To each their own.
