I usually get Sunoco but....

I was out of town and running really low on gas so I pull into this Shell station. The big price sign wasn't working so I pull up to the pump and this is what I see.

This can't be right! So I hurried and filled my tank for less than ten bucks and drove off proud of myself that I got away with something.

But then I started thinking...
How can they sell gas for less than a dollar a gallon?
Is Shell gas any good?
And just what is this V Power Nitro anyway?
It can't be water. Gas station water costs more than a dollar a gallon.

Now I'm worried my car may blow up. Or God forbid I might get the crickets.

The car seems to be running fine but I'm thinking maybe I should drain my tank. But I can't think of any way to tip the car over to get the gas out. Maybe I should just drill a hole in the gas tank. Then shove a cork into it. It's only plastic.

What do you think? Am I overreacting?

Come to Canada.

We are currently paying about $1.10 (CDN, so ~).80 US) per LITRE for premium.

Enjoy your cheap gas.

So sorry you were a victim of that scam .........

You should know better .........

Your car will be OK ...... the ECU will compensate.

However, although your "receipt" shows one amount ....... when you receive your credit card bill, it will show a different amount.

Yes, the old "nitro" scam preys on old folks in Florida .......

You should grow corn in your backyard and process it into ethanol yourself, in your basement, in some big bathtubs.

I currently use Sunoco as well. Here in NYC it is about $2.49 a gallon for 93 oct and E85 is $2.09 a gallon.

This legitimately happened to me one day at a gas station across the street from where I worked. I think gas (at that time) was over the $4 mark and it was discounted to - I will never forget - $0.36, definitely a pricing error on the clerk. I quickly filled up and gtfo of there. It was fixed the next day needless to say.

You should have come back to fill up some gallon gasoline jugs for your "lawnmower"
