Side skirts for BRZ
I am looking for whole body kit for my BRZ (lightning red) for a long time.
It is very difficult for me to make decision that the side skirts part should choose “bottom line” or “ step like” looks better. Sometimes I feel that step like looks better, because it looks more aggressive, but sometimes I feel that the step like looks heavy and close to transformer. Conversely, the bottom like looks nice and clean for me, but sometime I feel that it is too minor to the out looking. How do you think? What’s your suggestion for side skirts to make my or your BRZ look better? Here are some examples. Type 1 (step like) Pic1: TRD Pic2: OEM Toyota 86 Pic 3: C-West Type 2 (Bottom line) Pic4: Chargespeed Pic 5: Downforce Pic 6: APR Performance Type 3: I am not sure how to define this kind. It looks like in between which is a “L” shape. Pic 7: STI Pic8: Zele Thanks |

I really like the C-West side skirt. It makes the car look a lot stronger, but C-West's front lip isn't too great. What are you choosing for the front and rear?
The APR looks nice too though. |

Ideally, it might be better to buy whole body kits (front lip, side skirts and rear spats) from the same brand. It might can match better. It might do not have too many options from my requirement above. I only know the option as below. 1. STI ( they might release the rear spats latter) http://www.sti.jp/parts/catalogue/brz_zc6/index.html 2. HT Auto (they might release side skirts latter) http://subarukits.com/shop_summary.html 3. Bayson R (not sure about rear spats) http://www.baysonr.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=BRZ&Search.x=0&Search.y=0 4. C-West http://www.c-west.co.jp/aero/brz/index.asp 5. MV designz (They might release BRZ whole body kids in PU next spring) http://mvdesignz.net/ Thanks. |

Hi @cslntuee, if I had to pick side skirts only I would go with TRD. They are, by far, my favorite side skirts and work perfectly with the lines of the car making it look classy and sporty but not ricey. I like what @nsx_guy has done with his:
(My car has STI sides only because it worked better for my black/blue STI scheme and I did not want to deal with repainting pieces WRB).

Along the lines of TRD...I myself want the Euro/Aero/Nur sideskirts. I think that's #2 in your original post.

In the end the choice is yours, but a good thing to keep in mind is how the side skirt matches the rest of your exterior modifications - both front and back. If you're going with a simple black lower lip with small rear spats, then your "type 2" and possibly "type 3" would be a better choice.
If you're go for a more aggressive bolt-on front and rear lip, then a "type 1" side skirt would more ideally connect the exterior lines for a better front to rear transition. However, these are more likely to seem "tacked-on" and also tend to be on the expensive side. So perhaps now a good question to ask is: what do you have planned for the front and rear of the car?

Agreed. Once I throw the STI lip on, the front will look "heavier" than the rest of the car. I think the Nur Spec/Aero/Euro sides with their own rear spats will be suitable since that's not so much mix and match.

Skipping the OEM diffuser myself and getting a custom made unit. Honestly I'm not sure what out there will match the kind of matte look of my STI lip...hence the desire to go with something body color. It will pull down the sides of the car, but not too obviously.

I'm going down this same path. I have decided to eliminate anything that has a "step", I just don't like any of them I've seen on a Red.
Still debating on the Type 2 vs Type 3 but leaning heavily towards the 2 because I would be comfortable buying it from a photo. I would need to see a 3 in person.

Look in my build if you want a simple effective ground effects kit (ht auto front/rear, bayson sides). It looks nice, oem in my opinion. I have a SWP and I didnt want to have to attach body pieces due to I think it can look cheap it not done right (making sure it fits exactly, normally have to shape and mold some), as well as matching SWP seems to be a issue from what I have seen. I hope this helps you.
