6k to spend
2015 BRZ completely stock besides tires (Michelin A/S 3+). It's my daily driver. I want to make mine a bit faster. If you had 6k to spend what would you do?

JDL is awesome too but is there an extra 2k or so to invest in supporting mods? Your also gonna want wheels and tires on top of that |

Never cared to dyno it but at 12.5 PSI it almost keeps up with my dads 437WHP '93 ZR1 until 220kmh he starts to really get away. I would guess 300whp easy on pump gas. As far as reliable goes only issue that I couldn't fix on the side of the road was when I blew my rad up. Any time you go turbo your gonna have lots of issues but its worth it to me (mines also a DD).

Why is the JDL going to need any more supporting mods than the SBD? They are both complete bolt on kits. Any supporting mod needed for the JDL like tires and wheels are the same for the SBD.

I agree, they both need the same supporting mods (all FI does) I haven't looked at the price of the new JDL kit I just assumed it is higher because you know its JDL and they make top notch stuff.

Oh and to add if JDL is still doing UEL that's less desirable for spooling a turbo then EL

Edit: Nevermind they are the same price. SBD's website takes you to the 500x kit when you click on a feature for the 400x. The JDL is actually cheaper at 3k for the base kit. It doesn't make quite as much power as the SBD but with the garret turbo upgrade it will. And for the whole UEL and EL it wont make much of a difference unless a twin scroll setup is used. with the same turbo UEL and EL will differ very very slightly.

Honestly your probably right but in the real world wont matter much, but I am all about theory and science haha. I thought the SBD kit starts at 3k USD as well? Good deal |

I'd say the main deciding factors between the two is UEL vs EL sound (personal preference) and open wastegate dump vs recirc wastegate (personal preference again). Both are great kits though!

Yeah its good to have choice at that price point now. I am on the fence about upgrading my turbo but on pump gas its honestly kinda pointless hahaha. Don't think you can go wrong with either edit: SBD has amazing service and 1 year warranty |
