The VIN is already in whatever national system, I was able to get a GEICO quote today and it recognized the VIN as a '23 BRZ.

I think with the VIN algorithm they can identify and rate your car with just the first 10 digits. It doesn't have to be built yet. For example, I can tell you your VIN looks like this:

This is what I was told by my sales person. I ordered MGM and got moved from October to August. I'm the only MGM order here and he said all others are still showing Oct or Nov delivery.

Yeah I just talked to Izzy yesterday and even called Subaru of America and they both said no VIN for me yet. My order email from SOA was dated 4/21.

Just went to look at my order email. It came on 4/20. My VON is 218574216. A little earlier than yours? But still only one day before yours.

Has anyone called SOA with a VON and get told that they can't provide a VIN or updated delivery date? I called a couple of weeks ago and that was their response. I just called again today and they said they had to 'elevate' my request to a specialist and that I should be asking my dealer for that kind of info....

They told me that I should contact my dealer and so I told them that my dealer said to contact them lol. I got a call back after a couple of hours and they said they did not have a VIN and my ETA was still October. I ordered my car on 4/21 and others that ordered a couple days before and after me locally already have their VIN's so I'm pretty annoyed.

So my car was meant to be here any day now. I noticed on Wednesday thay my dealer posted a 2023 WRB BRZ (my order) on their inventory and on autotrader advertised as new vehicle. I texted my dealer to ask if he had any news. He told me he would have amazing news either that day or the next. The car had a stock number on their website. I thought a stock number was only assigned when the vehicle arrives at the dealership? Anyways, not long later both postings of the car were taken down, and I didn't hear from my dealer until I texted him this morning. He called and said the car was supposed to be on their last shipment and it wasn't, should be either tomorrow or monday. Honestly I'm tempted to just drive by and look but it is an hour away.

The stock numbers and often the listings on sites like Autotrader are often linked to allocations or inbound inventory long before the car hits the dealership.

I discovered this when hunting for my car. Looking at the listings there were GR86's all over my area. However calls/visits to dealers showed many of those cars were weeks/months from arriving. They also show up even though it is a customer order or a dealer allocation with a customer deposit. In your case they probably had to manually intervene and do something to mask it from public view.

Not sure on the machine-to-machine specifics that lead those adds to appear on dealer sites or other listings, but it's what I discovered.

Often a big give away the car isn't in yet is the media photo or the automaker's rendering image of the car with no background and no other real photos.

Just got the call this morning that my order has a VIN!

Order/VON Date: May 5th
MGM 6MT Limited

Salesman said it will arrive into Georgia port on the 19th and at the dealership around the 27th. Gonna be a long 3 weeks...
