Batteries & Voltmeters
Does anyone know if an upgraded/bigger battery is needed to run all the gauges typically used in a FI system along with running an aftermarket in-dash, amp, and sub-woofer? I bought a voltmeter to go in my triple gauge pod just to watch the levels because that seems like a lot of load on the battery.
IDK.....Batteries aren't my strong suit. |

If the battery is keeping up (if the car doesn't have a hard time starting), I wouldn't worry about it.

i haven't noted any issues at 900w rms... i believe others are running 1200w rms without issues on the stock hardware as well.

LOL
Yeah. A simple way to have a worry free bass thumping battery saver is to buy a capacitor for your amp. A .5 farad is good enough to keep away that light dimming effect when you hit that low bass. A 1 or 2 farad is good for over 1000 watts

Thanks everyone. So far I haven't noticed anything like dimming or a hard start, and hope I don't.

I've been running on a Shorai battery for 5 years now. 3 years of it boosted with a pioneer 4 ch power amp, 2 channels driving speakers, the other two bridged driving a sub. No issues whatsoever.
I recently however had to put in a new SHorai battery to replace it as it finally died on me. But 5.5 years for a 5lbs battery is not bad at all for 240$. |
