Wax or seal or in some way protectively coat the paint, yes. The clay bar will strip all the existing wax off the paint.

I have a paint correction question. With the soft paint on the 86, is it possible to avoid using wool, micro fiber or denim pads to flatten out orange peel or can we get away with more aggressive polishing pads and compounds instead of typical cutting materials?

For me, there is no glide in pulse and glide :p
From what I understand the wool wash mitt is better at trapping the dirt before it gets the chance to scratch. They are not as useful compared to microfiber on bird doo and bugs since it's so soft. On the flip side a true wool mitt takes a little more maintenance to keep it clean between washes.

Hope that helps, I'm no professional though.

that is true, typically we use the wool wash mitts on the tops and less dirty areas of the paint then we use a regular disposable sponge on the lowers of the car and more gritty areas.

The da is probably the better choice with the right combo of pads and compounds and polishes.

microfiber pads are great for cutting and foam pads I still prefer for finishing.

What would you say these marks are from? Tree sap? How should I go about removing them?
