Fitment Issues

I purchased tires and wheels very cheaply for my FRS.

I was told the wheel lugs were 5 x 100 and the wheels where previously installed on a Pontiac Vibe also known as the Toyota Matrix.

I attempted to fit the wheels on my FRS and my Forester and both times, they did not fit.

I am getting frustrated because I measured from the center of the wheel lug hole to the center of another wheel lug hole and it measured 4 5/16 inches. Converting that to mm I get a 5 x 100 lug pattern.

Before I make a fool of myself and call this person back, I would like to be properly educated.

From the best of my knowledge and the help of Tirerack, I have concluded that Pontiac Vibes do indeed have 5 x 100 mm lugs. Only problem is, I cannot prove that these were used on a Pontiac Vibe.

Would offset, lug-centric or hub-centric play a part in this? Should I be rotating the wheels so different lug holes match with the lug bolts?

I feel like I'm an amateur tire installer when I've gone through a dozen wheels and tires on my previous cars and never had this issue.

My conclusion is the wheels are indeed falsely advertised and that the seller will have to reimburse my payment.

the bolt pattern is sometimes stamped into the back of one of the spokes / hub area. or on a sticker in the barrel.

also, how do they not fit? if the studs line up but it wont sit flush against the rotor, then it might be that the hub bore is too small..

Their hub bore should be 57.1 according to the internets. We're 56.15 so theoretically it should fit. It always takes me a few seconds to finagle the bolt holes onto the studs.

the lugs are probably a different thread pitch, the wheels fit over the studs right?

My research says that they are the same thread and size as a vibe too, so unless you have too small of a wheel (15" rims or some 16" rims) and it is hitting the brake, they sold you the wrong stuff.

It sounds like the lug nuts are not fitting. Our lug nuts are a 12x1.25 Toyotas are 12x1.5 pitch. You need different lug nuts.

Yes, my mistake, however, I believe the issue the OP is having is that the actual wheel will not go onto the studs, apparently due to spacing issues, or, as I posited above, possibly backspacing or clearance issues. I do not think the OP has even gotten to the point where lugnuts could go on.

I think that the OP needs to take some photos of the front and back of the wheel, maybe with a tape laid across for reference, as well as provide the size of the rim.

That way, we can better evaluate where the issue may lie. If it is a 17, 18, 19, etc, the issue I had mentioned above (brake rotor clearance) is an obvious no, and we need to look elsewhere. If it is a Stock size replacement, that appears to be 16x6.5, 40 offset, which would probably be fine, however the vibe WILL fit 15 in rims, while I am fairly certain that there is no 15 in rim out there that will fit an FRS, so that could be the issue.

Stock Vibe wheel is 14"x6" IIRC. The smallest wheels you'll fit on our platform will be 15" rally wheels.

57.1 bore will fit, however a 57.1 bore will be lug centric and not bore centric.

Here is some reference:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=135

I have read about a 15" wheel that I believe does fit, search the wheel section of this forum, but it is a very particular one, so probably not that easy to find.

I thank you all for the responses. The wheels are 16 x 6.5 the tires are General Altimax Artic and have been sized as 205/55/16.

I will take pictures shortly and will post with tape for reference. The wheels will not actually go over the studs.
