As home prices plateau, and even fall, what will the used car economy see? I see random cars 2014 370Z 32k. That’s stupid. Is it a function of inflation now that cars are that much? Is it based on supply? What’s the deal?

Supply/demand. New cars got stuck waiting for chips and boards so people bought more used cars. Used car prices were already high-ish because cash for clunkers set a floor for true crap, but somewhat functional vehicles. Plus more people moving out of cities need more cars.

There are still significant shortages. I regularly have to approve short run substitutions and workarounds, primarily in electronic parts. 1 year lead times are still common with companies who have contracts with big manufacturers and little guys like me have to fight over scraps. Deutsch is still very backed up as is TE connectivity, Gates, ect.

raspberi pi's are unobtanium to any non-commercial people looking to get what used to be a $35 computer chip, and now goes for over $200...

they're making 100,000 units a month!

it's really going to become a game of hot potato.

once production catches up, which it will eventually, the bottom will start falling out of the used car market. last seller stuck with it is going to have to eat the drop in price.

That’s about as foolish as building a car and expecting any recoup in investment on parts plus the value of the stock car. Guilty of the latter, at least I had fun building and ripping it. The former, paying the cost of scarcity and crossing your fingers you’re not going to eat the difference when the time comes is a daunting risk.

I told my wife that was a probable outcome in buying a home. At least we get to do the same in adding some cool aftermarket parts, tune it, and go WOT when we can.

A couple guys in my industry use pi's to run their systems. They have been screwed.
