Whether a widebody kit looks nice or rice depends entirely on execution.

And even then, it's all subjective anyway.

It was posted as "Riced Out" BRZ I understand it's a stock body car.

There's performance mods and then there's rice.

This make you feel better zero performance gains with rivets.

Please I've been called a ricer for years.

Back in 1972 I was called a "Ricer" because of my Celica.

Even if it's not an acronym I still think that "race inspired cosmetic enhancement" is a fitting description. Any car mods from the early '00s today would be considered rice. The whole point in modding a car back then was to make it look like a flashy racecar. That's how I look at it.

If it came from Japan it was "rice" period.

It's a backronym, and who does not like a good backronym?

Rice nice lice spice, either way I'd take that 240. Looks like one my mom had. She had a silver one a white one. Gorgeous. When they saw my FRS they loved it. Said it reminds them of the 240s

Dude, you can say ass. I'd say we're all grownups here but then again we're discussing spanking in a non-pleasure scenario so that would probably be wrong.

Since we are on the topic of body kits, how about lip kits such as the TRD and Modellista. Nice or Rice?

Actually I have yet to spot a wide body kitted twin in my travels. I see at least 6-7 twins, on my short daily commute, spotted a bunch in Japan in just two days of a recent trip and, though in Korea for around 6 days, I only spotted a single 86 in traffic. According to the various tour guides there is some social stigma related to owning Japanese cars there.

I can certainly understand an owners desire to be different and to be honest, if I spotted one in traffic (all giant wing and rivets) I’d honestly think it was cool. See the elephant in the room here is that it’s something unusual and rarely seen in the wild and so (to me) I think it’s cool.

As others have said it would naturally need to be properly executed and I’d, at the very least, expect some form of forced induction in the build.

If it’s something you see all the time like a few in your area, at car shows or car meets etc I think the commonality of it would eventually make you think it was more a rice thing and lead you to appreciate the cleaner beauty of the regular car or one with a more subtle body kit and less wild wheels.

Some body kits improve the aerodynamics of the 86 but when there's no improvement then it's rice. If a body kits is made for styling only and it has no purpose other than looks so someone could call the body kit rice.

I own the FR-S RS 1.0 with that said the body kit was designed by TRD Technocraft in Japan same part of Toyota that made the JDM TRD body kit for the gt86. With that said a lot of the FT86Club members has called the body kit ricer parts.
