Hmmm It looks identical to the street version from the rear axle forward with the axle back held on with exhaust springs. If that's the case I'd just buy the street version and have a section of piping fabricated without muffler. The rear section should be a easy on/off affair at the track.

It would be no problem to make a replacement rear section for track days only, however keep in mind that this system uses slip joints and not flanges so you would need to have a way to flare the rear end out of the pipe to allow for it to slip on.

We have not checked yet, but let us get with TOMEI and ask, or possibly test one of our BRZ's that guys personally drive
PS. Talke to TOMEI and they will do testing in Japan and let us know

I am interested in this exhaust.

I am soon going with a turbo kit, and I'm wondering if this exhaust can be installed on a turboed car? Do most of the turbo kits leave the connection placement in the stock position?

I'm trying to decide on which turbo kit, and which exhaust to run.

Most systems will re-use the stock catback sections. So if you plan on going turbo the 80mm is the way to go. It is a larger diameter to assist with the higher mass flow of exhaust. As post turbo you just want those gasses out of there!

The Race system as the name implies is for Racing use. So they save weight on these by having no rear muffler section. It will sound amazing, but be ready for a loud exhaust. Also with the expanding tip it will act a bit as a megaphone, so its not for the faint of heart

i am wondering the type 80 is running 80mm piping and a canister exhaust, this should not be as loud as the NA 60 mm exhaust. I think this should sound amazing on my FA20 kit.

it really depends on what you want, bigger piping = more hp, but you lose low end tq.
I was reading the T1R 3" single exhaust, its still gaining hp and tq(maybe just not as much compare to smaller piping exhuast) as well, so only 0.15" more, I don't really see the different.
but just me, I could be wrong.

Keep it in the right rpm range and you should be good to go if your tune is right. I'm N/A and considering the 80mm as well. The silencer would be excellent for road trips. Maybe someone could do a with and without silencer dyno run. That would be cool. I remember awhile back they did it on a NA Miata. No loss in power at all with silencer. But on a turbo'd 240 it lost power with silencer. Of course an NA Miata on a dyno can barely hit 100whp. Of course there are other tests that show different results. I just wonder how loud it will be with 80mm piping. Hmmmm

Here's the Miata results here: http://www.importtuner.com/tech/impp...er_power_loss/

Here's another result from a Honda:
