Inner CV Joint design - why not Tripod?

I raced Hondas for a dozen or so years and most I've worked on the inner CV joint used a Tripod design which effectively never failed.

Considering how little work the rear axles on our cars do vs a FWD car - I was blown away to find out that our inner joints used a Rrzeppa joint.

For reference

The result is that a tripod joint of the same size as a Rzeppa joint is stronger or a tripod joint with the same strength as the Rzeppa joint is smaller and lighter. Sometimes, when space is at a premium, switching to a tripod joint means a stronger driveshaft can be made without using more space.
Does anyone know if any shops, tuner or individual has gone down the road of converting the inner joint to a Tripod?

I have never taken them apart, or done failure analysis on them, but I have helped change more axles on FWD Hondas at the track than I can count. Is that not where they fail?

I've considered it for a custom solution but my inners are tight. All the lash is in the outer joints.

Bone stock suspension. They're perfectly ok, just annoyingly sloppy.

FWD failures are generally the outboard joint.

I suppose I could just call DSS and see if this is something they have input on.

I'd be interested in hearing what DSS has to say.
