I got mine new in June of '14. The only thing I didn't like was the feel of the clutch engagement. I took Ultramaroon's advice and installed the 3/4" slave cylinder and now I'm ok with it. I think I have some chirping but it doesn't bother me. I really enjoy driving this car. I may adjust the clutch a wee bit and later on I'm going to install the MTEC clutch spring I bought awhile ago. I'd also like to get the JDM STi shifter and a Raceseng shift knob to make the shifting a little smoother. I have about 11,000 miles on it.

Major problems:

Both windows leaked
Paint easily chips
MPG sucks

^^^ those are the type of issues haha

In all truth, no real issues besides tob going bad. Caught it on time. i don't even classify that as a real problem. It'd be like me forgetting to re-fuel and then blaming the dealer.

I voted no because of the word "major".

I ordered my car in Apr 2012, and finally got it home at the end of June '12. It has 88K kms (~55,000 miles) on it and is my daily driver. It is a fairly early (#2955) first year car, and I've had a few issues along the way...

An annoying rattle/vibration noise coming from the right rear area at highway speeds, most noticeable on a windy day or when passing a truck. Drove me nuts until I figured it out...fixed that one with a few dollars worth of neoprene washers under the head of the plastic rivets (clips) that hold the rear wheel well liner in.
Rattly under panel below transmission...fixed with some rubber washers left over from the wheelwell liners.
Both taillights...one warranty, one after warranty.
The seal on the little front 1/4 window, twice...warranty repair (seal was tearing at the top edge). This seal is part of the window and can not be replaced separately.
Both door rubbers for folding up as the window closes...warranty.
Dash for coming unglued in the center above the vents...warranty.
Sticky right front brake caliper...after warranty.
Noisy blower (heater fan) motor...after warranty
Rattly, loose door mirrors...fixed it myself in a few minutes thanks to @supramkivtt2jz
Crunchy 2nd gear engagement...Pentosin
Crickets...3 solutions. Either burn fuel with no ethanol, burn fuel with ethanol, and add a small amount (1-2 oz) of 2-stroke oil per tank, or don't drive the car above 50 degrees F ambient temps.
There's probably a couple of other things I've forgotten about...

I will admit some of the clutch/TOB posts have me a little concerned.

Would any (or all) of these things make me regret buying this car? Not for a second! I knew I was getting a first year car, and expected a few issues going in. The little list above is a small price to pay for 55,000 miles of joy.

No major issues

Only minor issues
cam plate oil leak, got dealer to fix
rear deck creak ,dealer tried, more track time seems to fix it

Crickets are normal
confirmed if you feed them 100% petrol they die , no crickets
feed them 10-20% ethanol fuels they get lively and fire up
feed them E85 they get drunk and die of alchol poisioning, no crickets

on our fuels anyway :-)

I like that you mentioned the first model run there. Many of the guys with issues appear to have first or early run cars and the complaints seem to taper off as the production got more mature. I for one have had none of the issues on your list with my 14 and have 50K miles on it so don't expect them to pop up now. Not that there isn't the occasional thing for newer model years show up here but they really seem rare compared to the early 13s.

Garage
got my car 2012 (check sig)

major:
5th gear grinding - had to fight scion to replace transmission under warranty
CEL at high RPMs/low mpgs (20-22s)/missfires - likely due to crap ignition coils? .. i should replace them .. no like really .. seriously ive been lagging its really pathetic lol
missing grommets underbody causing water build up and odor of mold n mildew
obvious design flaw in sealing up the coolant tank - thus the evaporating coolant ... or specifically the water - fixed by adding electric tape around the hose at the top of the tank and sealing it and topping off with water
rusting between the weatherstrip and black rod between the door windows - warranty

minors:
the dashboard above the middle vents bowing outwards ... gave up and reading what other people said post warranty (pops up again)
crickets
door rubber water seals folding awkwardly .. i just finger it when it happens and its back to normal .. besides a little bit of discoloration
leaky tail lights - warranty - and gave up now lol
squeaky windows when wet
rattling here there everywhere
crap clutch pedal height requiring readjusting
notchy gears .. alleviated with motylgear

i guess ill add more later once i remember them lol ...

2013 brz, 19.5k miles

Minor issues:

- Leaking coolant from hoses. Weren't clamped down enough. Got a coolant flush just in case. been fine since.
- chirps? not really an issue though.

been boosted for the past ~10k miles, no issues so far.
