Window condensation
Well winter is here, and with the colder temperatures I noticed I get a fair amount of condensation on the inside of my windshield (after being parked for 4+ hours). It seems like more then "normal" and is enough to turn to small drops of water that then leak down my windshield. All this condensation has made keeping my windows clean a pain.
My last car was an Audi A6 and I never saw even a little condensation. Maybe I'm just spoiled? Anyone else experience this? |

I have yet to have this problem but my windows fog up a whole lot while I am in the car and I have to constantly run the defrosters. Very annoying when I'm very hot from the heater already but the fog doesn't stop. Only happens when it's cold outside. I mean this used to happen to me after the gym in other cars but never just normally.

Small amounts of snow that get tracked in to the car add up to a lot of water vapour trapped in a small volume.
So, yeah, I get the same thing. |

I have had this in every Japanese car I have owned. It is much more common in them than in the American and German cars that I owned over the years. My son complains about this in his new FR-S.

I've had it happen a couple of times now. It wasn't uncommon in my '98 Acura EL either. I keep my cars outside.

That picture tells me it's moisture coming in from the vent in the dash. Maybe changing the vent to recirculate before parking the car would help. |

Have you guys had it on the bottom half of the rear windshield? I thought it was from the outside until I noticed it and touched it.

Get some of this to remove the current moisture in your car. every couple of days change it if it has absorbed moisture. If after a month you still have condensation you may have a leak. If you live in a dry climate with very little rain you may not notice it as much. I had the same problem with a Carrera and it ended up being that on the last detailing job they had a new kid doing it and he did not let the car dry out with the windows open.

Two things that will help:
1) If your A/C is on, turn it off and blow non-A/C air for a few seconds before turning off the car. 2) Run the header + A/C from time to time on highest settings. -alex |

Wow. That's strange.
I live in the Pacific Northwest, where it rains 364 days out of the year, and I've never seen that in any of my cars. I'm going to guess that it's because I run my heater almost constantly. I'm always cold. In the summer, if its not raining, I usually have my windows down. Sometimes on sunny days, even now, I run my heater full bore and roll my windows down. :-) |
