Not one mention of a cup holder or elbow rest.

the facelift is only 2 years old not to mention toyota & tada-san are busy with the supra. @humfrz is right, look at the miata..na lasted 8 years and the nb, which wasn't a complete redesign, lasted another 7..so it took nearly 15 years for a true redesign to come out

Toyota and Tada both have the resources to do more than one thing at a time. Do you think he personally does all the work?

No, but Tada did step aside from the 86 team around the facelift release and is focusing solely on the Supra. But it would be easy for him to come back for the mk2. I do believe Toyota is behind the vision of future in sports cars and this isnt just a one off gen.

Just that the facelift isnt that old and mk2 is a bit far out so not a top priority compared to getting the Supra to production

Hey, the good die young. Some could see this as a good thing, some as a bad thing. Nothing lasts forever. If it does young, it has a greater likelihood of it becoming some kind of a "classic" later on down the line/ road (less units produced, etc).

I thought the '13-'16 was the 1st Gen , ('17- ? ) would be second gen due to not just the facelift but also the addition/improvements to the intake manifold , header , and what was it the valve lifters? Running in 4-year cycles. A generation could be 3-4-5-7 years, but I thought 4-5 year cycles on a vehicle production was a typical average amount of years.

Surely if there were to be a second gen anytime soon, mules would have been spotted and interviews in magazines. There hasn't been word either way if there's even going to be a 2019 MY has there?

naw, personally I think they are working many preliminary aspects of the 2nd gen but everything is still completely under wraps in order to avoid stealing the limelight from the supra and GR Super Sport.

Yes, I understood the sliding part when I read the word "sliding." It doesn't fit my needs, and I'm not going to waste any more time trying to explain why, since you seem mostly seem interested in taking shots, rather than understanding.

What I use is what I consider an elbow rest. It's wide enough to share. The rear cup holder is open for use. The other cup holder is open enough for a phone and the cord can be plugged in.

Why is your interior full of glitter?

I'm curious as to the double stacked seatbelt buckles? Easier to get to?

Much, much easier to attach and detach, especially when you're wearing a jacket.......

Across the board, I really like the layout of the old (in my case, '13) FR-S. Super dirt simple is my jam- I even specifically looked for one of the older cars to get the radio with proper buttons.

There really isn't much I'd change, but there are a few things:

1) That damn speedometer. I *like* an analog speedo, but this one's useless and I think it's because it's so damn tilted. If there was a way to rotate it a bit so the 0 was at, say, the 7:00 position instead of the 4:30-5:00 position, that would alleviate a host of sins.

1b) If that doesn't work, find something else to put there. Maybe some additional information like cruise control set speed, oil temperature in degrees, gear indicator, whatever.

1c) Hell, give me an extensively customizable screen that I can stick various apps on- all of the above, or download a boost gauge or whatever. That would be crazy expensive, though.

2) Since we're already dreaming, why not make the whole gauge cluster an LCD screen and you can pick and choose what you need? Going to the track? Just a big ol' tach. Road trip? Gimme a small tach and speedo, and show me google maps. Tuning session? Give me ALL THE INFO! That would be clutch.

Other than that, there's two things I would have liked: a keyless start, and a bigger cubby. I never thought I'd like keyless start this much until my wife got a Mazda 3 that had it, and... yeah. It's nice. It's one of those wacky little luxuries that really make life nicer. Then again, the batteries ran out in her remote last month, and the car got stuck... :P

And yeah, gimme a bigger cubby. My old 2000 Miata came with a double-din stereo that I yanked and dropped in a single din and a cubby... that thing got SO MUCH USE!

Other than that? Nope, it's perfect. Round steering wheel with a solid feel and NO BUTTONS on it, stereo with buttons, climate control with knobs, manual shifter. Don't need anything else, but I appreciate the little touches like a decent stereo (former owner put in a subwoofer, that doesn't hurt), A/C, and cruise control. Does it need it? No, but said Miata didn't have cruise control and that got pretty old on the long freeway slogs.
