Yeah you weren't around here in 2011-2012.. SOME complained about horsepower (like it or not, it is a valid complaint).

I don't recall any hate though.

I've been a lifelong Toyota fan, I wouldn't touch this thing with Trump's d^ck and we all know what that thing has touched already.

Nobody that drives an At can be an enthusiast. It just isn't possible. The people that are "disappointed" are not the ones that would (or in many cases could) buy it anyway. Most of the complaints are the same as when the 86 came out. This is almost EXACTLY what they said they were building all long so why are so many surprised it doesn't meet their own personal ideals?
haha I am personally against any MT car but that's only because I like to drive MT cars. The lack of the MT does take the Supra out of consideration even for me, but who cares what transmissions others prefer anymore.

Maybe that poster should come to a local track day. There's a guy with no legs that tracks a GT3 using all hand controls. It's not a manual.. but he's fast as hell.

When I said next gen 86,I was thinking it being roughly the same price, and with a manual. So basically ditching the boxer engine for a in line 6 turbo to make it their own, instead of a shared platform with the BRZ.

Ultimately,my point was that it would go over better being a next gen 86 than a new Supra.

I prefer MT myself and over 45 years of owning a couple of dozen cars only three were ATs. Now mind you two of those were drag cars (well a car and a van) that could blow the doors off many a Supra so I don't think the tranny hurt them any. My objection to the whole thing is this regular and ongoing statement that true enthusiasts only drive MTs. It is totally false and as elitist as the MT rules crowd wants to be there are many very good ATs out there now. The At they used in the new Supra is not the same as in mommy's Dodge Caravan and will probably out perform the MT most of the time. I get the whole "the feels bro" thing but people bitch about power and performance then scoff at something that can improve it (in certain cars).

I didn't know burger places sold cars. I'll let my Sales Manager know that I guess we're Chevy of McDonald's now.

You really should lighten up, living life as aggravated and as salty as you do isn't good for your mental or emotional health. If you channeled all the energy you waste being a complete idiot into being, I don't know, intelligent and thoughtful, you wouldn't have as many issues in life, like buying cars at McDonald's and spamming "LOLOLOLOL" repeatedly thinking it's winning you any arguments.

Honestly I don't know how the other nice and friendly people on these forums have put up with you for so long, but you're easily the most unwelcoming person I've ever met not just on this forum, but across all forums I've ever been on, and trust me, as someone who browses reddit daily, that encompasses A LOT of people.

As someone who went from a 88 Toyota Pickup to a 2017 Toyota 86 I am not well versed in sports cars but I can't help but wonder why did Toyota not just make a less expensive version of the damm fine Lexus sport coupe with a Toyota badge on it ?

Which Lexus coupe? The RC or the LC? Both could've been solid candidates to become a rebadged Toyota and carry the Supra nameplate, in my opinion. However, the LC is very heavy, so I think the RC would've been a better candidate, that being said, some styling cues on the Supra seem to be carried over from the RC F, so while the cars may not be related by a powerplant, chassis, or any shared parts, they might be related on looks.

I guess Toyota just really didn't want to spend the money on developing their own performance inline-6, so they opted to let BMW do that for them.

Unsure which I just know I have seen one that looks a lot like the 86 to me at least.

the RC drives like crap! its heavy and slow and lose to the M4 in every head to head test

the chassis is also a mix match of existing platforms. Toyota will not be using to the RC for anything in the future. all RWD Lexus will switch to GA-L which also underpins the LS, LC, and Toyota Crown.
