Yes it feels secure with the plastic rivet. If you don't feel the same way after trying it, remove the plastic rivet and use one of those rivet nuts and a bolt like the Perrin offering uses.

Actually, to back up @imnotsureaboutbrz I found the trunk a little heavier than expected but it may not be JUST about weight. I think it also has to do with the arc/swing of the trunk that makes closing it slightly more involved (minimally mind you) than a simple 90 degree arc.

I'm not saying it's hard to do, but like I said before, the trunk didn't close the first time I tried. But on the second try I kind of automatically learned to slowly pull the strap to start closing the trunk but then after the initial inertia gets started then you add the momentum to really close it.
Maybe moving it to the middle location is easier, I haven't tried that yet but maybe I will.
(Did I really just write a post about how to close a trunk?)

Edit: If the 2017 models do have stronger struts this strap idea may lose it's effectiveness but someone else will have to comment about that as I have a 2016 model (OEM spoiler replaced by a TRD in case anyone thinks it matters).

Gave her and my friend's MR2 a nice bath yesterday only to get up and find it's been raining all morning

Also tossed the new exhaust in the back and headed down to the shop only to find out they were behind and it won't be installed until next week.... So now I'm driving around with an extra exhaust because racecar

On the plus side, I get to drive a BRZ every day! And I used it to (not) sneakily putt around the Toyota dealership and spy on the new twins... Wow, that Oceanic is beautiful on the new 86!

How did you get your car in the bath?

Yakima roof rack installed. Waiting on the Thule bike racks.

Oh, and curbed a f***ing wheel pulling out of an ATM because why the hell not. It's like I've never driven a low car before. So pissed at myself.

Do you notice a howling sound at interstate speeds? The Suzuki I owned before the Subaru I got a Whispbar which cost a fortune because I did a lot of 70-80mph interstate driving.

I installed a Grimmspeed strut bar today, noticeable difference in the feel of the vehicle. I am pleasantly surprised. I also installed a Raceseng pulley set, hard to tell if I notice a difference or not. Once I do a lightweight flywheel and driveshaft I am sure I will notice the change.

Only have been up to about 65 so far with it, will know more later tonight. But so far, can't remotely tell it's there noise or fuel economy-wise.

RCE Tarmac springs installed on stock Sachs PP dampers. Probably oversprung but got a great deal on a used set until we go with coilovers. Sitting about 3/4" lower now. I'll see if that settles in any over the next week.

Also, the stock PP pagid brake pads dust pretty damn bad. Have Ferodo DS2500's in the mail for some extra bite.

So far so good but only took it around the block to make sure everything was on correctly and tight. Just slightly rougher ride I think, nothing terrible. I'll report more once I put some miles on them.
