3D Cad Model
Hi All,
Done a bit of a search but can't find anything available recently. I am looking a 3d Model (interior detail not required) to be used in Autodesk Inventor and possibly run some CFD on. At this stage any free model of either twins would be good for a starting point. Will be looking in the near future for a model that captures some of the under body detail. Would prefer a free model if available as it is just for a bit of fun playing around at this stage. Will consider parting with some cash if required for the right model (detailed under body). Mods - not sure if this is in the right section as nothing seemed relevant. |

Sup man. I am a technical designer certified in Solidworks and figured I could help here. Unfortunately models with reliable detail are quite expensive. I actually talked to Velox Eric a while ago on the matter, and this is what he said:
"We bought it through a data exchange program. You have to be a manufacturer and pay a rather large fee but it helps in designing. It isn't available to the public basically." That basically killed my dreams of owning a model. Sorry to be a downer. I just thought I would tell you straight.

If I can find what hard drive there on .
I am not the creator of this model, but I was able to download it from a website a while back (a year ago) that dealt with the video game forza model and in turn translated it by the polygons in different .file types with a 3D convertor program I have. I do commercial animation on products, fastest way for me to do my job is to take the CAD file and translate it into my 3D animation program so I can focus on the rendering and animation process instead of modeling. Ive seen a couple threads about this topic on this forum, not sure if thats how I found it . I do remember I searched long and hard. I wanted to do some renders and ideas for my car but never got around to messing with the model to much. But I did translate it into a couple .file types. Just have to find them ! |

There are a couple of companies that sell 3D models that are used by racing sim modders to develop new cars for sims - not sure of the file formats offered - they typically run about $65 IIRC.

Here is a free Revit 3D model of the GT86/FR-S. I'm pretty sure it can be exported into other Autodesk file types, but don't ask me how:

SEMA and Scion are *VERY* cautious with the FR-S/GT86 data, since they have been burned by a couple vendors that didn't abide by the rules. I know one SEMA member that was denied, because of a past association with these vendors.

Bumping this back up to see if anyone has a file? Still no luck. Have found some 3ds files and a file done in Creo but no luck converting it to a solid file in Inventor.
Does not have to be overly detailed, just need the general exterior shape to do some basic CFD. |

Please post if you do find anything. I'm also using Inventor. We should be able to import .stp, .iges, or .sat. relatively easy. |
