Spiral Cable Fiasco

I installed a Momo while I was waiting for JPM to cover my OEM wheel.

JPM wheel came back and I installed without paying attention to the position of the spiral cable connectors.

I either spun it too tight or too "open" regardless, the cruise control, horn didn't work, the traction, ABS and airbag dash lights are always on (traction and ABS are 100% off all the time now.)

I guess I spun the spiral cable in the wrong direction too far before installing the wheel.

....at least I had a chance to take it all apart and better understand what's going on in there. Does anyone have a pic of the cable in the correct position?

Is it the cable? Or did you install the wheel off-center? I remember when my wheel was off, it triggered a ton of lights.

When I say off-center, I mean - when your wheels are pointed straight, is your steering wheel aligned straight as well?

It's the clock spring wire. It should be winded up loosely in the enclosure to allow the wheel to turn with breaking/ripping the wires out. Your's looks fubar and the best best would be to buy a new one. If you are get it back together and it's not binding, take it to the netural position (where your wheels are centered) and spin it 2 and a half turns each way to make sure it won't bind or break again

I agree with others, get a new assembly. Make sure your wheels are straight when you pull the wheel. Install it making sure one of the orange things are visible in the see through window. At least thats what I did when I removed mine.

good info......mine is 100% fubar. since you can't see it thought all was ok. new respect, be careful with this assembly.
