Sonic Blue 86GT with some colourful wheels

thought I'd share some quick snaps. Lots of people staring because it looks different. Lots of Asians getting too excited... lol

For those wondering, the wheels are Rays Gram Lights 57Ultimates BlueBlack 17x8" and weight about 7.9-8kg. Tyres are Continental ExtremeContact DW, 225x45x17 and are just over 9kgs according to the manufacturer.

For some reason I wasn't able to embed the images from imageshack.

Car has just been OptiCoated and looks great.

They look too small for my liking, but nice design though!

Thanks a lot for embedding the pics for me.

Offset on the wheels is +45 and honestly I reckon they sit perfectly. Fills the guards a bit more than the stock 16s did.

I also agree that they don't look that big and I think it's due to the fact the spokes don't extend to the out edge of the rims. I have 16s on my MR2 and they look as big as these because the spokes extend all the way out.

For me it was a compromise between looks and ride quality. 18s with a bit of width are going to end up very low profile and the ride is already firm as i'd want on the 17s.

These wheels also have a LOT of room for big brakes to clear due to the curvature of the spokes. So in the future this may be of use depending on what I end up doing with the car long term.

Thanks Mitch. The optiguard seems to resist general dust better and I'm looking forward to washing it to see how nicely the water sheets off it.

Still looks really clean, great job!

The sonic blue looks awesome, especially opti-coated.
Do you have any photos Pre opti-coated for comparison?
