Backup Camera? / Headunit Display?

Was trying to avoid making another thread, but I was looking into buying a base 2013 FRS - does anyone know what the cost of a good backup camera and head unit / display would run?

Would it make sense to wait on purchasing a backup camera until the 2016 comes out to see if I can get an OEM camera (assuming it's compatible with the 2013)?

Also are these installs as relatively straightforward as they appear on the youtube videos out there? I'm a total NOOB when it comes to these things (so would most likely get a friend or my brother to do install, but I would like to learn...)

A good backup cam - 100 bucks
A good dash maybe 200-350
And if your a newb with electrical get some help. But it's quite easy and you could definitely learn from it.

All you need is to know where the reverse trigger wire is. And it's this pink one. If this sounds like another language. I say don't attempt it. Have a friend or pro install it for you.

The '16s have them stock

That may not be in your budget, though.

I put a a Kenwood DNX570HD in my 2013 a couple years back. As I recall, it costs about $800 for the head unit and $150 for other parts.

The install was a breeze ....... it only took the Best Buy Geek dude about 4 hours .....

On Ebay I saw a genuine Toyota Venza back up camera that cost $120 that works with the stock touch screen head unit ( considering the FRS comes w/ one). There is a really good thread that tells you how to install it, it seems pretty easy.

I bought the beat-sonic kit for 2013 FRS and followed their install steps without any problems.

Hope this helps!

Ugh... I was actually looking new originally, and if I end up going that route I'll definitely wait for the 2016 (barring some ungodly price break on a 2015 or the few 2014's still out there)...

The used 2013 I found is completely stock, and while I can live with that (am I the only one who isn't sure if he likes push button starts? I genuinely can't decide), this standard unit is a bit fugly in my opinion:

If you want something cheap and functional. Appradio 2 and 3 work very well. I own both and I just use to stream Bluetooth audio through my iPhone.

Appradio 2 works with mainly iPhone.
Appradio 3 works with iPhone and android.

They should b pretty cheap check eBay and Amazon for new prices

Nope, you're not the only one.

I had my fill of fun with "push start" things back in the 40's ......

Can anyone under 30 years old, tell us where the starter "button" is in this picture ..... ??

2016 Stock, my only "meh so so" feeling is that its an awesome camera, but pretty basic. If you want those fancy dandy backup cameras with those yellow markers and a proximity sensor, your gonna have to go aftermarket.
