Not at all. Aesthetics which is subjective at the cost of heatsoak whilst idling.
Yes it cools down but it takes longer to cool down than the stock intake as it is passing off the absorbed heat. So in everyday driving and especially stop and go traffic -> knock.

I talked to someone who tunes cars and asked about heat soak, he said if it's a turboed system or you're doing lots more horsepower through NA, then an aluminum tube would be worrisome. In my case since the header/tune is about all I'm going to do power wise there's no concern, and I believed him.
