Perrin 3.0 or Borla S Type

I want to buy an exhaust for my car, but I absolutely do not want one that has burnt tips. I'm old school, as well as old, so I do not want burnt tips.

I have been looking around, and the only ones I can find so far are the Perrin and the Borla S-Type

One thing...I do not care about the cost. A few hundred dollars here or there does not matter to me at all.

I'm leaning towards the Perrin, but when I go to their site, it recommends the 3.0 version.

Will a 3 inch exhaust be OK for my stock 2022 BRZ with no other engine mods?

Any other suggestions for an exhaust with no burnt tips?

I personally recommend the 2.5" based on the drone generated from the larger piping.

When I go to the Perrin website and enter a 2022 BRZ, it defaults to a 3.0.

I guess they are recommending that over a 2.5.

BTW, I do like a somewhat loud exhaust. I've owned a number of mid year big block Corvettes with side exhausts over the years, so loud is OK.

Plus, the BRZ is a weekend car, so it will not be a daily driver.

Possibly an oversight on their end. I would recommend the 2.5" over the 3.0" as well, if it fits of course.

A 3 inch system would be more appropriate if you were planning on adding FI later on. With near stock power, the stock diameter 2.25" is adequate as no significant gains have been shown with larger diameter cat backs. There are many other options w/o the burnt tips. Most full cat-back systems that fit the earlier models will fit the 2nd gen. The 2.5" greddy supreme and 2.75" CSG Touring are other quiet systems w/o burnt tips. Those seem to be good options in addition to the 2.5" perrin, especially if you think you might want to add a header later on.

I’ve got a Borla on mine. Its very tame I’d say. It’s medium loud on cold start and has a nice growl when warm. Cruising, it’s basically no louder than stock and has zero drone at all. This exhaust is probably 50-70% louder than stock but is much quieter than a Invidia N1 or N2, Corsa, etc.

The Borla sounds like it could have been a stock OEM exhaust and that is really appealing to me.

That sounds perfect. Is that buzz on the highway the 4S tires?

It's not an oversight on Perrin's end. While several people have confirmed fitment, the feedback I received from Perrin was that the 2.5 wasn't compatible. I didn't bother asking why and swapped my 2.5 order to a 3.0 order.

I asked them recently as well and they confirmed the same thing. They are working on a 2.5" variant that fits the 22+

From what I've seen, Corsa and Borla are the best so far.

I wonder what the fitment problem is, there are a few people here who are running the Perrin 2.5" on their 2022 cars, but it seems like Perrin found an issue. Interesting since I can't imagine the 2.5" and 3.0" being much different other than exhaust diameter. Did Perrin indicate any ETA for the 2.5"?

This is the other exhaust I was considering originally. It does seem a good bit louder, especially on cold starts.

Just received an email response from Perrin asking about the 3.0 exhaust for my 2022 BRZ.

Was told it is currently backordered and expected shipping is in late February.
