Oh duh. That's right. The whole radiator fluid thing is the temperature control. I was so enamored with the setup, I was thinking off the top of my head.

Its not a problem though, you can very easily just run an inline thermostat like this

A hybrid system would be interesting. Keep the fluid cooler and have the air cooler on a thermostat. That way you get the best of both.

I ran the oem forester cooler in tandem with a mocal thermo sandwich plate to oil cooler w/ fans. Worked great for getting temps up quickly and then keeping them down once they got up.

This thread has inspired me to run a front mounted oil-to-air exchanger in parallel with my JSRC dual oil cooler radiator if/when I go FI. Last edited by Jo0; 01-08-2022 at 09:30 PM. |

In your planning for FI, research positioning of the ducting, mounting of the charger, and where you oil cooler lines will run. I'd guess the thermostat needs to be reasonably close to the engine to operate correctly.

I want to assume that my current 2017+ Jackson Racing sandwich plate is thermostatic, unless I'm reading their product page wrong. If not I'd just swap it out for the greddy plate like grumpysnapper is using. |

Another question: Will the FA20 oil pump provide enough volume and pressure to support the additional cooler? |

I have the dual radiator. That was also something that crossed my mind, will the stock oil pump still provide enough for both. My oil pressure gauge right now seems to cap out at 50-55psi at 6k-red line daily driving. Currently using 0w-40 Castrol Edge Euro Formula |

But they are two "conventionaly" sized coolers so I'm not sure how large the Jackson water/oil is by comparison, and how that might alter things. |
