I got some of my parts painted like I wanted. I'm happy with how they came out.
I scuffed em with 400, wiped down with solvent, two coats of color, and two coats of clear. Painted the ends black too. EDIT: UDGRADED PIC RESOLUTION.

Finally coaxed myself off of the skyscraper that was buying a clean 240sx shell. Bought exhaust and interior parts and lowering springs for the 86 instead.

Today I finished wiring the drivers side door for my Rexpeed convex heated mirrors, installed the mirror, and put the door back together. Sometime this weekend I'll finish the passenger side.
I also installed a pair 86 Speed hood struts. I wish I had installed these sooner. The hood is held open higher and no more dodging the hood prop while working on the car is also nice. Last edited by Face_Plant; 10-27-2018 at 01:58 AM. |

is working in here at least as nobody seems to trust anything that costs almost half of the Grimmspeed ones. The only issue I see is every strut kit has the mounting points as one bolt at the bottom(even on the lower portion of the Grimspeed one) and then one at the top except for Grimspeed. I personally would drill for another point to the top and bottom with whatever kit is used or DIY made so both points had two bolts holding it all together. |

It is just the videos comparing it to the Grimmspeed seem to exaggerate how flimsy the 86 speed ones are. I made a comment in here about how expensive these hood strut kits were since they can be D-I-Yed for less than $40 and Grimmspeed in particular took offense even though I didn't name any certain company or even hint at theirs at all. Then he went into a huge story about how I was basically an idiot for thinking anything other than the Grimmspeed ones are capable of functioning/lasting. It would be nice to see from somebody who owns the 86 speed one and not a paid user or agent for any company to see what the real truth is. $70 seems fair if they do the job. Here is somebody doing a custom DIY one for $32: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-...s-scrap-22170/ |

Not sure what you would even put in the video. It's not like they have a lot of functions. They either hold up the hood or they don't right? |

My hood has some scuffs where the hood prop slides in and it's annoying when your head is deep in the engine bay and you try to shift a little to the side, then WHAM! You hit your head or neck on the prop and it's a big surprise because you were so focused on what you were doing. Plus it's just nice to have the hood lift up and stay there without having to fiddle with the prop.
