The "NEM86" Motor Build & Custom Widebody

Hey guys,

Just wanted to start my build thread. I've had the car since May 2013. Just now getting around to making a thread for my 86.

I'm out in Dallas, TX so if you ever see me around, give me a honk

You can follow more on my Instagram @FRiedchickenandbacon

May 25, 2013

October 13, 2013
Blacked out the headlights.

October 17, 2013
Installed an intake from Powerhouse Racing

November 12, 2013
Wrapped my roof in matte black vinyl

January 30, 2014
The girlfriend bought me a Seibon CF Trunk.
Installed some TOM's Racing Taillights.
And a picture of my Ultimate Racing Exhaust that I had installed back in June of 2013

February 16, 2014
After a month of waiting for my Whiteline LCAs, they finally came in.. Installed them along with my KWV3 coilovers, Whiteline Toe Arms, and Whiteline front end links

February 23, 2014
Open Track Day at Eagle Canyons Raceway. My tires were too big so I couldn't run them. I had to get them pulled. I did that a few weeks later.

A picture of it cleaned up after the track day.

April 12, 2013
Bought a HT Autos lip.. Didn't have time to install the side extensions. But my friend got a shot of it at Cars&Coffee in Fort Worth.

By now I had started collecting parts for my turbo build.

May 03, 2014
Installed a SPEC Stage 3+ clutch with an aluminum lightweight flywheel

Pic of the factory clutch

Transmission out of the car.

Up on the lift

New Clutch in after 6 hours of working by myself..

May 16, 2014
The girlfriend got me a ViS Racing CF Hood for our anniversary lol (you'll see pics of it below..)

May 19, 2014
After 12 hours of working in my garage, my friend and I finally got it all in. Now it was off to PRT Performance for a custom straight pipe exhaust!

June 7, 2014
I had been reading about a number of people experiencing overheating issues with the FBM kit, so I went ahead and ordered their Radiator, Slim Fans, Shroud, and Oil Cooler. All is well now! (Sorry forgot to take pictures.. I'm bad at that..)

June 14, 2014
Got my Tamon Design front lip on the car. Kept my HT Autos side extensions, and put on a rear diffuser off a rocket bunny v1.

June 21, 2014
Had DetailNerds in Arlington, TX do a full detail on my car before the StanceNation show the next weekend.. They did a GREAT job, show quality work..

June 29, 2014
My first show ever.. I was never really into shows, but my good friend is president of Team Nemesis here in Dallas. So I was invited to join and show with them..
Took home first place best Scion. Took home first probably due to the cleanliness of my car from DetailNerds Can't thank them enough!

July 18, 2014
My friends did a Meet n Greet with Timothy de la Ghetto and Dannie Riel, so I was invited to come out to Evolution Auto Concept in Dallas and do a small shoot with her and to just chill

July 23, 2014
After the shoot, I decided to add some resonators to the exhaust, since it doesn't have any restrictions, it made for a very loud ride. It still is loud.. but definitely tolerable now..

August 10, 2014
Did a quick rolling shot because we were bored one day..

August 23, 2014
Hot Import Nights.. This was a crazy day.. We had a bunch of errands to run for the team display and I still needed to wipe down my car. We didn't know it, but they started judging before the show even started. Needless to say, I didn't make it back in time to full wipe it down.. Only took home 3rd place in the Scion class..

September 13, 2014
Formula Drift Texas / Offset Kings
A few weeks prior to this show and event, I was approached by a friend who asked if I wanted to have my car displayed at the Scion Racing booth at Formula Drift. Naturally I said YES! But there were some conflicts with being a part of the show AND being a display car at a booth. The guys at Fatlace / Offset Kings didn't want to show favoritism towards booth cars, but they allowed it this time. I was in the Race / Track class.. Took home 3rd, but I wasn't upset about this one.. I was up against some crazy builds.. a purple R33 took second and a fully built s2k took first.

I also added a CF roof cap from Seibon and had the car corner balanced by PRT Performance

It's been awhile since I've updated..

Here's how the car sits right now..
I wanted bigger tires to put down the traction because I wasn't getting it with the Hankook RS3 255/35/18 tires so I upgraded to the Toyo R888 295/30/18 tires!
Also got some new wheels from Rays Engineering Volk ze40 18x10 +40

In order to fit them onto the car properly I had to get the rear widened out and get some wider front fenders. I went with Victory Function fenders because they were the easiest solution.

It all turned out great.. Here's a quick shot we took after getting it mounted, balanced, stiffer swift springs installed and a corner balance.

I'm also starting the motor build this Saturday 01/17/15 ...

Here are some of the parts I got in so far.

We got the motor out last Saturday. It really wasn't too bad. It took maybe about 2-3 hours with a help from a friend and a lift.

Monday 01/19/15
We started disassembling it. I don't do this full time, so I'm just swinging by the shop sometimes after work, on my off days, and weekends to work on the motor.
We got the cover off Monday.

Tuesday 01/20/15
We got the chains, guides, and heads off the motor. But I didn't get any pictures yet. Shipped off the heads to @FullBlownMotorsports. LJ told me they already started porting the heads and getting everything ready. They're just waiting on my cams.

Wednesday 01/21/15
Swung by the shop today because I was a little concerned about the DI's and the seals. I was reading a lot today about the seals and all the issues they've caused. It raised some concerns so I went by to take a look at them. They look good, so I'm going to continue using them, since replacing them seems like a bitch.

Thursday 01/22/15
CP told me my custom pistons should be shipped today so I'm just waiting on that. Once the pistons get in, I can send the crank, rods, and pistons to get balanced. Hopefully it won't take too long, but my friend told me it might take a few weeks because they're always busy.

Took this picture really quick

No rods or pistons in the build? You are pulling it apart to install new studs and bearings?
