Apparently every other person drives them 10/10 all the time even on their morning commute!

Hell just a month ago I had the audacity of saying I didn't care about weight when talking about the new Z!

It must be true!

Yeah you definitely wouldn’t need a turbo awd car. You would be good with the standard Corolla hatch I bet with some blind spot mirrors. Some people buy for looks though, not carrying about the premium.

I have zero interest in any Corolla of any type.
I did have a turbo all wheel sports car once though. Probably while you were in diapers.
Blind spot mirrors are worse than useless on any vehicle.

Ya I can’t see it at home either. Will have to fix that.

Close enough

I refuse to accept any Japanese AWD sports car until Nissan modernizes and puts into production the MID4. Until then all are dead to me....

Yes, I have a long memory particularly when you break my automotive heart like Nissan did....

Oh D4S… how sweet it must be to have DI turbo and not worry about carbon fouling.

Wow, so that thing went through two generations.. as a concept car. I knew of the Mid4-II, didn’t realize there was a I.

I'll stick with the Nissan I have now rather than the MID4, which I can honestly say I forgot about. LOL.

That, but from a tuning perspective, having direct injection is great for high compression and cylinder cooling, and having port injection is just great for having an extra set of injectors for high boost applications. Direct injectors are limited by duration, and they are expensive to upgrade. Huge port injectors are poor at modulating low duty cycles, where the D4S system can run directs for low load and then really open the duty cycle on the large ports. It is probably my favorite feature of this engine.

It is like, ‘Hey look, FWD cars and RWD cars are just as fast or faster on tarmac, so is it worth it?’ That’s why I wanted to know what was appealing about the car over a GTI, CTR, Veloster, etc. with 2.0T 4 cylinders.

Frankly, I would like the 1.6T over the other engines just because of D4S; from a tuning perspective, it is just so nice. But again, that would be my interest, so I’m wondering what others are thinking.
I suspect if there was a 1.6t fwd vs awd you might choose the awd.

You get that, I get the Type R and maybe I can finally beat you. No tight twisty tracks though

Reminds me of a survey or something I'd heard of where a bunch of people swore to god that Toyota made the Accord, or Honda made the Corolla or something like that. Couldn't find it with a quick google. Fun quirks of humanity.

Yeah, I remember a loooong time ago in junior high school, I was seeing this Phillipina girl who wanted to get a "Toyota Trans-Am" when she turned 16 and got her driver's license.

I broke up with her a few days after that.

I figure the Corolla is the closest I'll get to a modern Celica GT-4, so there's that.

I drive 12/10ths because the faster you drive, the less torque dip you'll experience....and racecar

I cannot fathom a 10/10ths situation. That is so amateur!

I bought an 86 for a reason, and that is to drive like a ****bag (since the power output of these things is so damn awful it takes driving beyond ****bag status to really unlock this car's full potential)

Yes, if I was using this as a daily in an area with snow and dirt.

From a tuning perspective, 400 less cc’s and one less cylinder means higher cylinder pressures are needed with typically less potential over the motors from all the other competitors, but D4S is really nice over direct injection, and this motor is so stout from the factory people have been putting down 400-500hp on stock internals with the cylinder walls are massively thick, so that is really impressive. It is too bad the engine is only in this because it would be nice to swap into the 86, but the extra cylinder and 800cc’s is nice on the GR86, even if it will need to be built and get a new transmission to handle big power, but the engine is heavier.

I do think it will have a lower ceiling when modified than larger displacement engines of course, but it should be good enough for most. I’d prefer the GR Yaris by far over this because two doors and much lighter weight and special.

I wonder if a RWD conversion is possible like how people have done with the older Carrera 4S to get the wide hips of the four, but lighter weight of the two with more power to the wheels from less drivetrain losses and slightly better gas mileage.
