Borla UEL Header & Overpipe/Frontpipe
Hello, I have the Innovate SC and the Borla UEL header. I have not installed any of these parts yet but I also wanted to add the Borla frontpipe/overpipe but I wanted to ask if anyone has any experience with this throwing CEL codes because there is no cats anymore?
I plan on getting an ECUTek tune. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

The frontpipe and overpipe combination will be fine - there are no 02 sensors located there.
The header may cause an off and on problem even with a tune. I have an 02 sensor extender on my Borla header with an ECUTEK tune and it throws a code every 1000 miles or so. Easy to reset and really doesn't cause a problem. |

You don't need cats with a Ecutek tune. If you have an Ecutek tune and still get a cat related CEL it's probably because you're running an O2 spacer (extender). Your CEL is for low O2 because of the combination of tune + spacer. Remove the spacer and the CEL will go away.

Our headers do NOT remove the factory catalytic converters. While a CEL is possible at any given time, you should not expect one from the installation of our parts. That said, if you do proceed to install our header (part #17284) with a tune, you will usually find more power from our parts than without. http://www.borla.com/products/frs_br...rt__17284.html |

That's one very popular photo you posted yet again. I've seen that posted and reposted at least 100 times now. Just for the sake of a little factual accuracy, usually missing on this forum, I'm posting a photo of a much more typical Borla collector. Admittedly still not nearly as pretty as JDL's but about the same as what you'll find on Revworks, OpenFlash, etc. |

He's a Borla fanboy for life. You can't sway him.
I'll put my JDL UEL and full exhaust up against this header and full exhaust any day. You will see which one comes out on top because of proper collector engineering. Why do you think Nameless ended up with a pointy sharp collector similar to JDL as well? Granted they both aren't the same header as they have different power ranges because of EL vs UEL, but the one similar characteristic is the merge collector. |
