Hey guys,

Just stopping in to say hi
Can't wait to trade in my tC for this, as long as the concept looks similar to the production model (probably not).

Hello! Love the forum and LOVE the car. I'll be replacing my 97 Celica with a black FT-86...that red is sweet though. I've always said I'd never own a red car (cop magnet) but that color red actually has me thinking I'd have to have it if it were available on the production model. I just can't tell my wife the color is named after a monkey's red ass or I'd never hear the end of it. I'll probably stick with black though...decisions, decisions.

I also drive a 67 Camaro that's being converted to an exact replica of Lane Meyer's car in the old 80's flick Better Off Dead, and a rare black/black 85.5 Pininfarina Spider (my wife's show winner).

I hope they make a 1:18 diecast of the concept as I'm a collector as well.

I have plenty of time to start saving now. Bring on 2011!!!

Newbie here, from Australia. Hoping that we get it and it isn't ridiculously priced! Hopefully Toyota Australia don't grab for cash like they do with the Prius. Actually, I'm hoping that Australia actually gets it at all. We're not a major market like Japan and the US, but we do have a large RWD fanbase due to our domestic manufacturers going that way with their flagship models. (Holden Commodore [Pontiac G6 and G8?] and Ford Falcon)

I've posted this on other forums regarding pricing, because I think that'll be the make-or-break for this car. If they want to infiltrate the younger markets that I think they were aiming for in the original scope, they need to be competitive. I reckon there'll be three trims available:

Budget/Basic:
Bare bottom model! This would possibly even have wind up windows (if Toyota even makes them anymore), steel wheels, basic CD/Mp3 player, cloth seats, etc. Not the fastest thing on the road, but good enough to be fun. My estimate: AU$29000 to AU$32000 by the time you get it out of the showroom. We get the lowest grade Subaru Impreza here for a touch under that so I can't see why we couldn't get the FT86 at that price in its most basic form.

Comfort:
Inhanced for maximum driver comfort, this model will have little or nothing in the way of performance upgrades, but will provide a lot of common options. Power everything, CD-stacker, maybe a premium audio package, possibly a race-inspired interior, maybe a spoiler, alloy wheels (16-17"?) and similar. Dare I say this grade may have colours available for exterior and interior that aren't available in the lower spec too? I'd estimate this to weigh in at an extra AU$5000 above the base model. AU$34000 to AU$37000.

Sports:
The model we all want but might not be able to afford. Probably will come standard with power everything, spoiler and alloy wheels, maybe a different front bumper too, but will alloy everything to be upgraded at extra cost to the comfort spec. Biggest improvement will be to performance, with tighter shocks, slightly lower ride height, and a subtle power gain through de-de-tuning or hopefully a mild turbocharger system. Even though it won't be as comfortable inside, I'd guess AU$39000 to AU$42000 for it, if not a touch more depending on whether they do go turbo or not.

Can only hope though and wait!

Integra owner from NY. I love my freaking integra because of how it drives on the highway when im cruising. Its hard to describe how fun it is when I cruise the highway in my teg, even tho the body is beaten up and it's not very fast.

I found this forum from that exclusive nurburgring video off autoblog. I've been following the news of cars coming out of Asia for the past year. I'm hoping for competition among the Japanese companies to bring back the lightweight sports cars like in the 80s and early 90s. I was also following the rumors on a potential Nissan S16, as a successor to the S15, but sadly those were just rumors.

Sup everyone. I cant' believe there's a clubsite to this already! Fell in love with the FT86 at first sight. If things go right, hopefully this will be my first car (and assuming it comes to Canada).

Hey all, joined this forum a few days ago, been on ft-86.com for a while. I drive an '05 Saab 9-2X Aero, so I guess you could say I have a thing for weird 2-manufacturer cars.

Hello fellow FT-86ers, my name is Dara from Kentucky, just wanted to say "Hi" to everyone.
When I first read about the ft-86 on pressroom.toyota.com, I couldn't stop smiling. All day at work I was smiling and I work at Toyota and the most exciting thing to look at is the IS-F across the street at our Lexus lot haha.
I drive an '08 xB right now and was looking at something more fun to drive, I love the xB for it's practicality but I want and yern for a lightweight, RWD. A used S2K was all I can think of that is within my budget. I'm happy now that I have something to look forward to and it's coming from TOYOTA!
Will be happy to get to know everyone much better on this forum.

Hello everyone.

I am from Greece and I currently drive a MX5 2005 MY. I loved the Toyota-Subaru concept from the begining. As an insider (I was an automotive journalist) I know about it for quite some time.

I am a big fan of boxer engines and rwd sports cars. Now these are about to be mixed in one car and if price is right I will be selling my MX5.
