Just finished mine over the weekend. 4G 2013 N7, no gaps thanks to some 3M tape around the edges. Only issues I've had are it's not quite charging as fast as I had hoped. I currently have the power routed to it from the Sony MEX-N5100BT's USB port.

It won't, you'll need a 2.1A or so 12V-5V regulator or hardwired charger. Most head units can only put out enough amperage for a moderately powered phone, not enough for a tablet.

Yeah, looking at the output on the HU it's only 1A. I know some folks were running it to a cigarette lighter in their glove box, but I'm not seeing one in mine.

The socket is there, its in the back right corner. You might have to use a flashlight the first time because the socket will be covered. It's not in the "box" per se, but if you open the glovebox, get down low, and look high in the right corner you'll see a black plug, remove the plug and there is the socket.

After switching the power to the port behind the glove box fast charging is working as it should. This also seems to have solved my N7 battery drain while in standby. Looks like the head unit was draining it.

Is anybody having intermittent issues with the tablet either not shutting off or the screen not coming on when the car is started?
I have had the setup running well for 6 months but occasionally I have issues where it seems to freak out. I have the N7 running off the cigarette socket in the glove box (2.1A charging socket) I also have a usb hub connected to the N7. occasionally the N7 does not recognise the hub on startup either. Anybody have any ideas what could be causing this issues? I have a 2012 n7 with Timur first rom. Thanks |
