Hey guys, I made the decision (dumb) of stripping my rear interior, pretty sure that puts me in EP class? I know I won't be competitive in that class. Just do autocross for fun anyways and I'm still a novice, probably a couple seasons away from getting the hang of things. But I've had weight reduced cars before and would like to experience the lightest FR-S I can.

Depending on how stripped it is you may be classed as Street Modified (SM) and not EP. Actually the FRS/BRZ doesnt go in EP, looks like it would be DP. Rules for SM start on page 95 of the SCCA Solo rulebook.

I'm signed up for NTAXS, hopefully I won't have any drifts as epic as today's SCCA autox. Skip to 3:07 for some epic drifto action.

The maximum number of drivers (70) have registered.

Sam, do you mind sharing what software you're using for the screen overlays?
I know the latest gopros have the built in GPS with the location and speed but I don't have one of the newer ones.

Is there another way using my phone and OBDLink perhaps?

Thanks!!

NTAXs fills up fast (often the day they open registration), the record was 6 hours last year.

I'm using a Garmin Virb XE with the motorsports package (comes with a Bluetooth OBDII reader) and I edit the videos with the Virb Edit software (I'm pretty sure you can use the software with any camera and gps data, but having the Garmin camera makes everything a one touch process).

I've got a template for autox and another one for trackdays, I have to add the run times as titles, but that's a pretty easy process. For the trackday videos I just set the start/finish line and the built in gps calculates laptimes.

RaceRender is a popular choice, but I haven't used it.

Another good one I have used in the past is Harry's Laptimer. You can hook up OBDII reader to it, go pro cameras, GPS. Just another option.

The Austin chapter of the scca (sports car club of America) is called the "Spokes Region" they have an autocross program http://www.spokes.org/events/

Houston also has its own groups and I wouldn't be surprised if there were groups other than the scca in those areas with autocross programs.

Registration for the NTAXS wintercross on the 19th is open. As long as the weather permits they will run. Come out and dust the cobwebs off.
