Thank you

It can be... but there are few things that stopping it from dropping that low

1. Oil pan - Oil pan is right below it and it's pretty big, so if you drop it too much it will scrap it

2. Exhaust Header - Around the oil pan, is exhaust header, so again it's same situation w oil pan.

3. Front Suspension - This is only for AWD, but when you drop engine that low cv axe and other front suspension parts need to worry about... but for this car isn't AWD instead it'll be RWD, so it shouldn't be any problem on this.

so top of my head, those are the 2 main things that can get in the way... but it's still possible to have it in that low

How can you possibly tell this is a hatch?? All you see is a roofline from the front.. You can't even see the boot. If anything this might be marketed as a fastback but be either a coupe or a liftback :p

Totally looks like a fastback or coupe from the teaser, kinda doubt it'll be a traditional hatchback.

In my opinion none of this lines belong to the "real" car. Maybe they have taken the general shape, but maybe not. I would bet that they don't want to show the car this way.

I think that they only have intended to show "the new boxer sports car architecture" and have invented a chassis to expose it.

The point is in the mechanical part, I guess. I can't analize it, but there may be something new that we're unable to see, and the news are there.

This was officially from Subaru^^

Auto Express might have been close? tone it down from STi spec and put on an Ft-86 greenhouse, that just could be it.

I can see it now. The Subaru version will be RWD. And then they decide not to sell it in the US because it would 'dilute the brand.'

that auto express picture needs to ditch the hood scoop. don't need an intercooler (or associated scoops) on an n/a engine.

I'd personally leave the scoop on the hood and have a very short sealed ram air feed from there to the manifold

Edit
I was having a look at the suspension and it doesn't mean it's macpherson struts. Depends on the way it attaches to the wheel assembly if it's just a single bolt it means it's not structurally carrying any side loads so it's just a spring/shock package and it can still be multylink or a arm or whatever could also be a macpherson as well but until we see the actual hub assembly it's all heresay

there are certain cars that look better as a hatch back...

and the current STI looks better as a hatchback....cause the sedan with the wing is not that great.

Another car that looks wayyy better as a hatchback is the VW GTI instead of the GLI.

I don't know why...but it seems there is a rumor going around...that only "cocks" like coupes...and disregard hatchbacks all together. Maybe because "cocks" are never seen as the "useful" or family oriented type...so they have no use for a hatch back.

Me personally, i think hatchbacks are awesome. Before owning one..i thought they were weird. Then owning one, i think they're unique and useful. Like an Office boy's car.

^ +1

I see so many GR STI hatches driving to the track with a full set of race rims and tires easily loaded in the car. Try doing THAT with a coupe OR a sedan! LOL!

But for this car, I would prefer no hatch. If I wanted a hatch, it'd have to have 4 doors.

yeah but in regards to money, mx5 has multilink rear and double a-arm front front as of NC, and it used to have double a-arm all around in the NA.
isnt the miata a direct competitor? so pricewise it shouldnt be a problem then really.. or did i miss something?

If it's STi I think we can assume it will be turbo.

And no, hatch STi doesn't look better than sedan.
