I'm just screwing around. But doesn't the S13 community refer to them as Hatches and Coupes (as well as the wonderful Pignose name for the early 240sx's)? Supra guys call it a hatch, AE86 guys are Coupes and Hatches afaik.

Ffs what I wrote is strictly in regards to the chassis of a car. A hatch/lift back is a chassis as well as a sedan or a wagon or a coupe. A fastback can be a coupe or a hatch/lift back or even a sedan.. It's just a marketing term.. That's what my long arse post was referring to
And if you don't think there are standards go look at sae codes of design if you can get access to them.. Not everything is on wikipedia Hatchbacks are not inherently more heavy than coupes, but the weight must be distributed differently (usually higher) to obtain the same rigidity, or (like the masive stock cpillar brace on the 350) require bracings which sacrifice the full utilization of space.

Internet argument!
They both have rear hatches making them both hatchbacks. The pic you are calling a hatchback is more like the style used in wagons/mini-vans. It isn't a complete description to say that there are only two types of hatchbacks either. As a note the kammback is the most aerodynamic hatch styles. The fastback design hasn't been about being efficient or slippery, it's about looks and a little bit of utility. |

Seems like a pointless argument =P
Liftback is a subset of hatchback, and thus aren't mutually exclusive. |
