I think it has more to do with the genre than the native environment. Dark Souls, for example is a 3rd person action rpg....... those and most other 3rd person adventure/action games are usually played with controllers by most people, I think.

How do you feel about steering wheels vs controller vs mouse/keyboard for racing sims? :P

Yep sure did. WingCommander had an epic storyline. I played through to Freelancer. StarCitizen feels a lot like Freelancer on industrial grade horse steroids. And it should as its' the spiritual successor to it. The physics are top notch and Chris Roberts is promising Hollywood level polish to the voice acting, storyline, and visuals. He says something like (in regards to game elements) "if we're not going to do it better than everyone else period, we won't do it."

The scope of the game is Eve-esque. Even in its' pre-beta form it has, get this, 930,000 backers (people that have donated to the crowd-fund) with $85,000,000.00+ raised so far at a current rate of about $3,000,000.00 per month https://robertsspaceindustries.com/funding-goals

I own several hundred dollars worth of alternate controllers including joysticks, flight yokes, rudder pedals, flight sim gear like throttles, radios, gauges, etc, so I'm pretty good with them. I'm personally not much of a race sim fan, but when I do play one, I prefer a wheel because it's more natural.
I have the plans I'm working on to build a full-on flight sim cockpit, just need to get started on it.

I have my copy "reserved." Iv'e been researching if all of my programs/games/steering wheel/Nvidia Surround are having any issues before I make the switch. So far it looks good and I may switch tonight to get away from 8.1.

I've been running the beta and preview on my home Surface Pro 1 tablet for about 4 months. It is infinitely better than 8.1 on the tablet. The final downloaded on release day.

Haven't played any real games on it though so can't speak to how that works out. I'm waiting for my "reservation" to come up on a couple of my other home PCs and I'll fool around with it a bit, wait probably a month or so before downloading to me primary gaming machine.

(Yes, I'm a PC whore and hoarder, my entire career has been in the PC side of the IT industry so I can't help myself. I finally am in the process of decommissioning my Pentium II system that is over 15 years old.)
