Can`t Believe my Sti is going up in value

I have a 2018 Wrx Sti and I just got the insurance renewal. They have upped the value $1000 more than I paid for it.

Now try selling it for what the insurance says it worth

I just looked because insurance value is usually much higher. I found 9 2018`s for sale they range from 51k - 59k with 30000km - 100000km. Mine has 18000km and it`s not for sale.

Perhaps a higher value demands a higher premium.
Insurance companies are not philanthropic.

I take solace in the fact my Evo is worth more than the remaining loan I have on it. It'd be gone if the check engine light would stay off long enough to trade it. It always brings a smile to my face to see them end up on used car lots and car max for $40k though :P

The used car value of WRXes and STIs, particularly when unmodified, tends to defy logic. I bought a 2008 WRX when the 2009s where released. The 2009 MY had ~40 more HP and the value of 2008s dipped as a result. 3 years later, I traded in my 2008 for $500 more than I paid for it.

Jeep Wranglers are much the same way. Only as opposed to modifications, people seem to only care whether or not the frame is rusted.

You couldn't pay me to take a Chrysler/Fiat/Stadenko (or whatever the hell they're called now) off your hands.

Sadly your personal bias, while shared with multiple other people, doesn't dictate market value. Cause I'd totally pick up a cheap, serviceable, TJ with the 4.0 to futz around with if such a thing existed.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. But I don't make vehicle purchases based on market value or how much marketing a car gets over another. I make them based on brand reliability first, and then specific model features and reliability within that brand.

I'd rather work on a car because I WANT TO rather than because I HAVE TO.

Then why in the hell did you buy a car with a Subaru engine?

Joking aside, whatever the criteria, a person should only buy a car because it is the car they want. I do have some family and fiends who ask me about cars before buying one. In addition to researching and telling them what I find about the particular models, I suggest that they make sure to go and drive every car they're interested in. Ultimately it is their car, and they have to be happy with it. No one else.

i just lol whenever people ask me for suggestions, and remind them that i drive and enjoy a stiff-riding, loud sports car, or a pickup truck with all the wrong badges--whatever their priorities are, i promise them my suggestions won't be inline with those.
